Someone hit something in Crimea. HIMARS?
Maybe anti-radiation missiles disabled Russian air defense?
the delay in the shockwave....damn that thing big.

https://wartranslated.com/russian-s...ses-significantly-below-russian-media-claims/The pro-Russian Telegram analyst “Atomic Cherry” uses data provided by the Russian LostArmour OSINT team combined with WWII and 20th century Soviet military studies to determine an estimated number of Ukrainian casualties in the 5+ months of the war between Ukraine and Russia. As per their estimation, while Ukraine has likely lost up to 25 thousand killed and over 100 thousand in total casualties (killed, wounded, captured), the claims of the media in Russia about the Ukrainian armed forces reaching their disintegration point due to losses is far-fetched. In fact, where combat losses have reached significant numbers, the Ukrainian forces remain very much combat-capable. The analyst predicts the Ukrainian army will be capable of continuing conducting military operations for at least 1,5 – 2 years.
Sounds a lot like this is suddenly becoming a defensive war for Russia.Some Ukrainian casualties numbers out of Russia;

Another day, another Arestovych and Feygin daily broadcast. Some snippets;
From https://wartranslated.com/day-167-august-9-summary-of-arestovych-and-feygin-daily-broadcast/
- The 35th Army of Russia has been assembled in the Enerhodar area, with a large group near Tokmak. It was their depot that was blown up in Novooleksiivka. This army is here to prevent a Ukrainian advance on Melitopol and Crimea. This is what the Russians fear the most. A strike here cripples the defence of the entire southern front from Kherson to Mariupol. If the Ukrainians can reach the Crimean border they can cover the whole Crimea with “all sorts of weapons” without entering Crimea. This would be a catastrophe for Russia.
- Russian airbase in the Kursk region was also hit today 115km from the Ukrainian border.
- 60% of Russian forces in Ukraine are now in the south.
- Ukrainian aviation conducted daytime strikes in Kherson today which shows that the Russian AA in that area has been obliterated. Specifically the Russian forces that tried to advance towards Mykolaev yesterday were hit by the aviation.
I don't know about that. Roger has ALWAYS beat up politicians.
Proof is right in this vid of him ripping Trump to shreds.
Waters is making the Young Grasshopper argument: In his endless advocacy for the end of war and war mongering, which is a good and just thing, Waters puts on the same foot the tyrants that will always start wars, regardless of reason, as those that are forced to go to war and continue these wars to end the tyranny.
He is making Putin's argument that NATO has made Putin violent and angry for some reason, which is obviously absurd. One must wonder why Waters, after this very fair indictment of Donald Trump, is now on Putin's side by repeating this failed, absurd justification for endless warmongering and violence.

Is there a chart for dummies on the mobile missile types that are in production and what their effective range is?
I've probably learned more about modern warfare from this thread than I have in the last 20 years of general reading.
Not sure I can fully appreciate the giddyness that a bunch of engineers and defense CEO's are expressing over this conflict. Can't beat an active conflict to test and validate readiness of your products.
This conflict has shown how the US has no remotely close military peer. Newly trained troops with far less support and infrastructure than our troops would have are using our systems to demolish the supposedly second best army in the world. Imagine what the US army would have done to the Russians here.We have been able to see how stuff does in the Middle East and learned a lot but never directly against the Russians operating their claimed top flight gear. Moreover this is exactly what all this equipment was specifically designed for (blowing up invading Russians) so I'm sure there is certainly some satisfaction in seeing it provide good service.
This is good for the Europeans too like Germany who is discovering that their fancy robotic howitzers are quite potent but need reliability improvements.
I think the odds the US has supplied ER-GMLRS are going up a bit. Too far for the airbase strike but not for this and there are other reports of strikes beyond standard GMLRS range like at Chonhar. Whatever the case may be Ukrainian capabilities have definitely increased.
Reminds me of a "stealth" circuit card we ordered from supply, it had no components on it, but it has a nice DCAS (government QA) stamp on it.
Potentially another Ukrainian hit in Crimea.
Edit: right on the Crimean border, but deep within Russian held territory.
And Crimea is still evacuating.
