Yes, it's exact reason why Russia should win. The price of defeat would be monstrously high. You speak directly about the division of Russia. No matter how I feel about Putin, no one wants their country destroyed. All that remains is to fight to victory and support Putin.

The more bias, the more cries of genocide without going into the definition of the word, the more the lies of the victim country are supported, the easier it is for Putin to convince the citizens that the West intends to destroy Russia and therefore needs a complete mobilization and transfer of the entire economy to a war footing.
If that’s the case Putin entered into a war of choice that, if lost, would lead to the destruction of Russia. And he has now lost it.

That level of incompetence is pretty incredible. Why aren’t you guys looking for a hospital window to introduce him to?

The US isn't clean in this regard, but I'm not aware (in the last century at least) of us kidnapping kids from a warzone or moving our population in to settle the land.
Not a warzone, but:

I would argue Trump's family separation was armed men forcibly removing children from their families, which is pretty much kidnapping. Granted Russia is operating at a larger scale with a much higher level of barbarity. While it is true Trump's intent was to cause terror, suffering, and psychological harm; I would argue Putin's intent to cause genocide is more evil.

I am not particularly comfortable with the title "lesser evil".

And yes, it was evil, cruel, and sadistic crime against humanity. Definitely orc material for the decision makers involved. Grade C monsters.

I am not defending that horrible policy at all. But that was splitting up families that had willingly traveled to the US, hoping to get in either illegally or via asylum. Russia is going to a foreign land, killing parents and shipping the kids back to Russia to be raised as Russians (and probably much worse things).

Boarding schools for native Americans is probably the more similar example. And why in the US you can not adopt a native child without approval of the tribe (which also creates issues).

It was cruel intentions, which where made public by our free media, and opposition party members traveled to the sites, investigations were launched, and our democracy voted in the majority to send Trump's fat ass packing.

Meanwhile in Russia, no free media, no free elections, long prison sentences or one way trip through windows for any dissenters.

Any institution that involves humans will have an element of cruelty and corruption, it's in our nature.

The difference between our systems, and the objective of civilization overall, is embracing those base human activities (Russia) or fighting and minimizing them (US, much of Europe, Japan, Aus and other free nations of the world.)

I quoted the original definition of genocide for you. I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings.

The US isn't clean in this regard, but I'm not aware (in the last century at least) of us kidnapping kids from a warzone or moving our population in to settle the land.
The Native Americans might have a different view of that. Their children were stolen from them into the 1970s. Native lands were stolen into the 1950s.

I wasn't sure when that ended, which is why I hedged with "in a warzone." I have no problem admitting what we did to Native Americans was genocide. Unlike whyitso that is denying obvious genocide.

Maybe time to tighten up on North Korea and stop any shipments going out and search them. Stop any shipping weapons, ammunition etc to Russia.

Two of Germany’s three remaining nuclear plants should not go fully offline as planned at the end of this year but instead will remain in an emergency reserve until mid-April 2023 to provide a backup for the power grid if needed, economy and climate minister Robert Habeck said in Berlin.

The Green Party minister presented the results of a grid “stress test” conducted over several weeks by Germany’s transmission grid operators, which found that keeping the two nuclear plants in the south of the country operational could help avoid grid bottlenecks in extreme situations during the upcoming winter.

Makes sense. Just in case. Europe is a little in uncharted territory this winter.
