Yea - it really is amazing at russia incompency. I think 99% of the issue is that our weapons actually work as advertised; and their weapons well what can we say. You add in the total lack of training - i mean it isn't that there were a few unexpected surprise or what have you - but whole scale incompetent from the top to the bottom. Then you add in the fact that it is a war that no one but Putin supports and you have a situation where the current rate of Russian deaths is near 300K soldiers a year (imagine if Ukraine was targeting civilians like Russia). I mean our weapons haven't really been tested by a first rate army but they certainly turned Russian stuff to butter in iraq (of course one could argue iraq equipment was antiquated which it was) but the sheer amount of Russian equipment Ukraine has captured - it would be like Mexico (hey you didn't include this in your alternative universe) captured 200 fully functional Abrams and another 50 HRMMS complete with 1 million rounds of ammo. It boggles the mind how poorly Russia and Russian equipment has performed. Honestly if i were China i would just waltz in and annex all of Russia.
