So it looks like Putin and/or his defense minister have purposefully left that Wagner group undersupplied in Bakhmut while they go through a meat grinder. With the intention of politically weakening this guy Prigozhin, because they think he has ambitions of replacing Putin.

Meanwhile the outnumbered Ukrainians in Bakhmut are fighting for every house and square inch of the city, and inflicting terrible casualties on the under-supplied Russians.

What a massive clusterfuck this entire war has been for Russia. They can't even all get on the same page. Putin would rather 10's of thousands of Russians die in Bakhmut and they lose, so he can blame a guy he thinks could theoretically some day attempt to replace him. I guess the one thing more important to a dictator than winning a war is maintaining his place of power.

This war is a death spiral for Putin and Russia. It will not end well for them.

I am coming around to the view some people hold that the current Russian offensive is indeed the maximum effort they can make and it can't be sustained. Additionally they are deeply concerned that a Ukrainian offensive will put too much pressure on and they'll have to cede land again. Hence the move to try some diplomacy before getting their ass kicked again.

Given the staggering equipment losses I was curious how many tanks Russia could produce a year. Prior to the war they were struggling to produce 250 tanks a year. Assuming ramping up gets them to 300 tanks (which may be generous) and the most recent estimates of 3,500 tanks lost it's going to take Russia over 11 years to replace their tank losses if the war ended today. And, given the sanctions, these tanks won't have the same capabilities as the T-90s produced prior to the war in terms of optics and other electronics

This is why they are “modernizing” long mothballed T-62s, they don’t have a choice. Cut of from western component supplies they have to fall back on Soviet era stocks of optics, comms, etc and it’s not great (for them).

Former member of the Russian parliament makes it clear what Russians are thinking.
The world belongs to them, and them alone.
We have not killed nearly enough Orcs yet.

This is on par with Tucker calling for an invasion of Canada and Graham calling for an invasion of Mexico. Ain't serious and only intended for the dumbest part of their audience.

Yes, with each successive failure they make more and more outlandish statements. I’m pretty sure they have floated the conquest of all of Europe as well.

A couple of reason i think the video is incorrect - first Iran already recovered one of these so I'm not sure there is new tech to be obtain since iran/russian/china are all willing to share tech. 2nd Russia has shown it has a lot of issue recovering things in deep depth (remember the submarine explosion a few years ago); yea debris that don't sink are easily recovered but the heavier pieces will sink. To be honest these things should be designed to self-destruct - hopefully when a plane collide with them

The Kursk was in shallow water About 350 feet deep. Nose down and the rear was nearly at the surface.

perun did a vid on PMCs and wagner. he covers the history of mercenaries and how wagner rose up out of iraq/afghanistan blackwater's example.
he mentions that shoigu has his own pmc "Patriot" and they are stepping up operations in syria. kadyrov has stated he is looking to create his own pmc when he leaves service.

prigozhin is becoming a rival to putler, so they are cutting off wagner.

i suspect the inner circle can see the writing on the wall, and assuming the war ends badly there is no benefit to funneling money and resources to a highly trained private army that could potentially be the force that comes to put a bullet in putin's head when the oligarchs decide to remove him.
