The source I am hearing from "over there," are at about 800-900 deaths per day on the Russian side over the last week+. I don't really have anything to link for that, however.

There is a lot of this kind of stuff surfacing. Word of casualty rates at 80-90%. And this is before it is even cold there.

I think there is a distinction between a willingness to talk and a willingness to make any concessions which is what the US is likely telling Zelensky. Putin has not backed off his maximalist demands so any conversations will go nowhere until he changes his mind and everybody will once again see him as unreasonable.

I saw some reporting this week of multiple days of 5-600 orc KIA, with significant equipment losses as well.

Strategic interpretation that canon fodder being moved upfront in Kherson, while "professional" troops are moved back over the river in a defensive position.

There is also this going on apparently.
Putin's forces heavily arming Ukraine, meanwhile taking out their own units. A+ work going on.

Florists are a booming industry. Just burying by the roadside at this point.

Ukraine should be open to negotiations, but I doubt Russia will accept the minimum terms that I'd consider if I were Ukraine, and I'd probably be more flexible than Zelensky/Ukraine will be...

Just to even open negotiations, I'd demand a complete and unconditional halt to ongoing Russian war crimes: at a minimum halting shelling and bombing of cities, civilians, and civilian infrastructure - with nothing offered in exchange from Ukraine other than to attend negotiations.

An interesting idea why the Russians might be throwing thousands of lives away in a sloppy bid to push the line back here. The Kerch bridge will not be back in full operation until sometime in mid 2023 at least, the one rail span taking the longest to fix. The railway in Donetsk is presently well within regular tube artillery range and unusable. The bad news for the Russians is that the Ukrainians are quite well aware of this and are going to be very very hard to dislodge no matter what.

It would be nice if they could hit that bridge again - as for starlink - I can see initial service being around 2500K a but i would think there would be a 'scaling' discount for a large number of units ukraine has. This isn't like cable or wifi - putting the sats in orbit cost a bit of money and the service hasn't reached scalability yet with regards to user. Still for the type of money he is charging it would be nice if DOD sent up their own sats and to run the service

A good dozen ships or so seem to be inbound to Ukrainian Black Sea ports now. Took a couple days before sailings resumed once Russia realized they couldn't hold their blockade if the Turks said they're coming anyway. Odds are the grain deal will be extended since they know what the alternative is now. Russia wants a couple banking concessions which they might be able to get if Ukraine receives shipping access to Mykolaiv. Assuming they pull back to the left bank of the Dnipro soonish this is possible.

^^^ I wouldn't say they've lost.

If the war ended today with the lines where they are this would at best be a pyrrhic victory, Russia could have quickly snatched and maybe been able to hold roughly what they have now had they not engaged in so many other failed offensives. Factor in what damage they’ve inflicted on themselves on the world stage and I don’t think you could call it even that.

Not sure why you leap to portray this in the way you do.
Because there were a series of posts about the big Russian losses and when I went looking for something on it, instead I saw that the NYT was talking about Russian advances.

Ukraine is losing troops there as well. I assume since it is so non-strategic, that they are so actively defending because they have strong defensive lines there.
