Some interesting points on this event;

I believe that Poland may ofcause also have the right to attack the launch site itself. I doubt it will do so.

If it happens again though...

An interesting point was made this morning on Australian breakfast TV. The fact that this missile attack on Ukraine (90 missiles, 70+ shot down) occurred during the G20 summit is a mistake made by Putin. If he wanted political folk high up the chain to have something to talk about, he sure made the right move.

Poland have a few submarines.

A Russian ship or two could magically hit an iceberg or a massive rogue wave in the Baltic sea.

Poland says they are increasing military readiness in response, and in talks with NATO amid further investigation.

Personally I think they should do a bit of bombing in Crimea. I mean it is silly - Russia has been doing this denial crap for over 8 years and enough is enough. Their blatant disregard for the truth has gotten so extreme every-time they utter a word i tuned them out. I always thought china was bad but russia really takes the cake...

What's the right move here? Let the Poles just handle it, or does that risk further escalation as well? Was it really a mistake or just Russia pushing limits?

Set an updated precedent with Russia for reparation for unlawful deaths and destruction - demand say ~$2 million for each death in lieu of military response, plus actual physical damage.

As a good precedent for final bill to Russia over Ukraine as well...

Deploy and activate missile defence systems in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Engage any missiles that remotly treaten them and anihilate the point of origin.

Make this very obvious to the orks.

Sounds reasonable to me.
There should also be retaliation for this attack.

You have to wonder how the anti Putin elements within Russia are taking this.

He's got a lot of new staff, surely there's one among them that shouldn't be there.

Some non-Russian sources are suggesting it could have been Ukrainian S300's attempting an intercept of inbound Russian cruise missiles. Probably good to reserve judgment.

This is not impossible though I haven’t seen anything very conclusive. Russia also uses the system in a surface to surface role. Let’s see what the Poles say.

If it's them, there definitely needs to be a price for this kind of thing. I was thinking a new policy of interception. Extend blankets of coverage over Ukraine from NATO as much as possible, augmented with mobile units. Hell deploy AD forward and let Ukrainians man it for all I care. 'Since Russia can't be trusted to contain hostilities to militarized zones, NATO members will now step in to protect their own citizens. Henceforth any Russian hardware within range of NATO AD assets is subject to immediate disassembly.'

Allow NATO to assist in depleting the munitions Russia won't be able to replenish easily, sans retribution to launch sites. Anything over Ukraine is fair game though. It would be an immediate boost to Ukrainian AD.

At the risk of echoing, Ukraine receiving a few hundred ATACMS would be nice too.

Give Ukraine the systems/ok necessary to strike targets inside Russia proper. Hit the locations causing the issue. That's still a "defensive" capability.

And let Ukraine eat the tactical in retaliation? I dont know dude. I think maybe NATO has to do *something* here, specifically not Ukraine.
