We talk a lot about Russian stockpiles but people underestimate how large US stockpiles are.

Russia’s only hope is the US chooses not to expend the resources to destroy their army.

I was reading that the US has about 3M rounds of 155mm DPICM in storage because over the decades we built a lot of them and then stopped using them as cluster munitions fell out of favor because of unexploded ordnance. Drawing from that stockpile we can give Ukraine lots of 155mm to use and they have used this to achieve superiority in artillery fire in the last couple of months over Russia. The US would have had to spend a lot of money destroying these rounds and instead Ukraine can put them to good purpose removing the Orcs from Ukraine.

This is not really all that big of a problem. Israel needs unitary shells. Ukraine can swap more unitary for extra DPICM, which work terrifically for the kind of combat going on there.

I doubt they're done throwing meat at Avdiivka; orcs are regrouping now and will give this whole 'combined arms warfare' thing another feeble shot soon I bet.

And AFU will smack the crap out of them again. Drone coverage and artillery effectiveness have gotten pretty one sided I'm told. Many of the Russians don't even have helmets and aren't well armed at all, and then there's the morale issue. I bet a lot of those guys are just an M39 or alternative warhead away from leggin it (presuming they survive tungsten shower time).

There are some interesting noises coming from this area. Not sure what is going on. Rybar had claimed that the Ukrainians are moving deeper into the left bank in force a few days ago. Maybe its just a shaping op. Maybe its something more. Maybe its just bs.

Again, I don't know the specifics, but as someone who fixed high end defense electronics professionally for several years in my experience power supplies were among the easiest parts to fix, at least from a diagnosis/troubleshooting perspective.

It could be a parts issue where maybe some components aren't in production anymore or whatever of course.

Ditto here. Power supplies are one of the easiest things to fix, duplicate or rig with newer components.

Today I took a little tour around Twitter. It’s easy to to dehumanize Russian soldiers for their part in the war and call them orcs. But, looking at the dead bodies of Russian soldiers strewn about the woods and fields around Avdiivka - I’m struck by that fact that I have become numb to the horror of war. It’s easier to pretend I’m an accountant - tallying up losses dispassionately. Maybe it’s the only way to act if one wants to follow this war without becoming depressed.


I in no way intend to diminish the devastation visited upon Ukraine's people and cities. Nor those UKR soldiers who have given the last full measure of their lives protecting their country against a completely unjustified war. Just noticing my own thoughts and feelings and though it might be good to share.

God knows. It's all very opaque to me, but I don't really feel it would be a positive development for these different conflicts to all merge into one big one.
