Czechia says they have collected more than 1.6B euro for shells and deliveries will commence to Ukraine in days.

Fifteen EU and NATO countries have contributed more than EUR 1.6 billion (CZK 39.5 billion) to the Czech shells-for Ukraine initiative, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said at a joint press briefing with a group of EU leaders in Prague on Tuesday. The first tens of thousands of 155 mm calibre ammunition will arrive in Ukraine in the course of June, and the country can expect the first shipment in the next few days, the prime minister said.

It's great news, but the roll out has been painfully slow. I'm wondering if UKR pilots are getting some extra training in flying near areas with heavy AD.

I'm sure they are being trained for Wild Weasel missions.

Considering the number of aircraft now committed it is unlikely Ukraine pursues additional models at this time. It's going to take them several years to absorb these. I assume they will focus on trying to get upgrade packages and a wider range of munitions instead.

By some accounts, Russian losses have crossed 500k. This is the tally of both dead and those wounded. The death count is estimated to be about 150k. And we're not counting Ukraine troop and civilian casualties yet.

The population of Russia is large enough that this won't impact their ethnic group all that much, but it does mean the majority of their experienced troops are out of commission. There was a CNN article in December 2023 that said 87% of their existing troops were out of commission. That's devastating in terms of the quality of their army...such as it is. So all new troops are mostly greenhorns at this point. I'm glad to say this is not looking good for Russia. I do feel sorry for the conscripts. Their families are going to be hugely impacted by any deaths.

The sad thing is possibly a million people will be killed or maimed all because of one genocidal midget.

It's amazing, really. The only response they ever have to "UKR gets way more ammo and way more capability to strike at will" is to "Send more meat!"

Putin just seems all to happy to keep filling sausages to feed those generations of Russian widows, when there's more ammo to be aimed at their husbands and their future. It's just...fucking insane. There is no attempt or capability for Russia to win in UKR, so whenever they have they have a seeming momentum advantage, they just slow down and wait for more fuel to be aimed at them.

I mean, 200-300k troops? Is this really something Putin delayed for the fake elections that never happen there? It makes no sense. He could have mobilized them earlier, because he's only ever going to toss them into bullet walls...so why didn't this happen 2-3 months ago when they had a real shot at pushing those bodies through far less bullets than what they face now. It's not like their tanks ever made a difference (blaming winter for being a problem to armor. lol--all their tanks seem to be the things killing them.

Wonder which regions, specifically, they are mobilizing from this time? Putin's really been doing really hard work cleaning out the Chechens and some of those far eastern non-slavic occupied colonies within the Federation. I doubt he is changing that tactic any time soon. How many more shipping facilities and warehouses employed by recent Eritrean and Malian immigrants are going to be cleared out for this one? Visiting students and work Visas, from Kazhakstan, China, Pakistan or wherever are going to find themselves waking up bootless and 10km east of Avdiika with a headache, a half-empty bottle of vodka in one hand, and a rusted-out M1 Garand in the other?

Russia's 2022 invasion force was 200k.
Last I heard, despite 500k casualties, Russia still maintained over 600k troops in Ukraine.

That's a growth from 0.2 to 1.1 million over the past two years.
Russia has been non-stop mobilizing for expanding the war. It's just they stopped promoting it on their media, and slowed it down to a pace that they feel comfortable absorbing. It is wave after wave until Ukraine breaks and NATO has to step in.

Running out of people was never going to be the problem. Ukraine will never run out of people either. What countries run out of is money, equipment, or internal stability.

For example before WW2 Germany had about twice Ukraine’s population. They sustained over 4 million casualties.

Not just Wild Weasel, but attacks on enemy infrastructure using techniques to get past AD, flight paths that take advantage of radar gaps, EW, knowing the limits of the flight envelopes of the missile systems. Tough stuff to do, the Israeli AF led the way on some of this stuff, most recently, in Syria.

Nope, the development of both Wild Weasel missions and contested air space infiltration in the jet age was led by the USAF, back in the 60s.

The IAF is an extremely well trained and effective group of pilots, don't get me wrong, but it owes a lot of it's current success to American F-35s. Adirs make things decidedly less tough.

You really need to read the history of the US Air Force in Vietnam.

Not wild weasel missions. Their action around Syrian (Russian) AD. And not just with the F-35s.
