Not wild weasel missions. Their action around Syrian (Russian) AD. And not just with the F-35s.

Well your exact words were "not just wild weasel missions..." and yes, you specified navigation in defended areas. The USAF and USN did plenty of standard bombing and aerial ambushes above Vietnam.

I didn't say F-35s were the only platform the IAF uses, but it probably is for cross border observation or strikes where S-400s are on watch. The tactics used by the IAF around unfriendly countries is more or less the same as what USN and USAF pilots did during sorties against North Vietnamese targets, just with 5th gen bells, whistles and tweaks. Also lots of drones. The aircraft they rely on now for their most serious air power requirements is American. I guess when tactics and hardware both are imported I'm loathe to use the term innovation. EW and the use of decoys, both physical and spoofed, to twist your way around defenses and lure interceptors away from strike packages, none of it is new.

When I think Israeli innovation I think software, drones/loitering munitions, hostage rescue. IMI does that forge twisting of rifle barrels, that's pretty snazzy.

I believe Israel has a new 'amazing?' stealth missile.

The U.S. has had combat troops deployed in one conflict or another since the 1950s and there are still quite a few scattered about.

One African country just kicked us out.

Deploying more should be an absolute last resort.

breakdown of infantry fighting gear in the war.
for the most part both sides are at parity when it comes to small arms. UKR still has the edge in optics/NV. rus are getting a mix of domestic and foreign steel/ceramic plates for their armor.

by the end of all this, the Ukrainian soldiers will have the most comprehensive evaluation of nearly all available western infantry equipment from all the donated gear. after getting feedback, it should be interesting to see what the manufacturers come out with for the next gen.

Looks like Germany might have changed their minds.

Scholz has seen the light? Damn. I hope that is legit. Who do we have to thank for this I wonder, is this Macron's doing?

AFU just needs to focus on hunting orcs and their vehicles, go out of their way not to emulate what Russians do to Ukrainian cities. Keep the moral high ground while stacking orc corpses even higher.

Huzzah Deutchland! Now send all the Taurus missiles you have to go along with this latest blessing.

It's the real deal straight out of Scholz mouth at a news conference with Macron. Finland just joined the part too.

Vietnam was mostly just the US, with some help thrown in by Korea and Australia. Ukraine has the support of 50 countries, not to mention Putin's hobbled Russia is not even close to the Soviets in strength.

If it makes anyone feel any better the Brits have had over 50 guys there for some time, many months. Smaller numbers of Americans and Poles too. Now I guess French Foreign Legion is showing up.

The US doesn't have to be a combatant here to get the job done, there is no former colonial power being bailed out by people worried about communism. This is a fight for freedom, against butchers. The analog here is 1980s Afghanistan, not Vietnam.

I watch a longish youtube video on this from a former Navy pilot - can't find it now. This article is the closest to it (too many pics, but whatever) https://www.key.aero/article/report...wage-war-syrias-missile-production-facilities

Attacks around Syrian high precision missile manufacturing site. Dense AD of various types. Apparently, Russian incompetence really help the IAF get around the S-300s. Also, medium range air launched cruise missiles helped allot.

It's so obvious you can't win a war without being able to attack the country you're fighting.
Meanwhile North Korean ballistic missile parts being found in Ukraine after being launched by Russia at the same time Putin is saying NATO weapons being used to target sites in Russia would result in a nuclear response.
