Russia said Monday that its “patience is running out” with the United States to return its diplomatic property seized as part of sanctions imposed over alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election campaign. A few weeks before his term ended, President Barack Obama closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland and expelled 35 diplomats.

At the time, President Vladimir Putin elected not to follow the recommendation of his government by imposing reciprocal sanctions. Immediately following that decision, Trump tweeted that it was a “great move” on Putin’s part to delay any retribution, stating that he “always knew he was very smart.” The Russian Embassy’s official account retweeted Trump’s tweet.

Great move on delay (by V. Putin)—I always knew he was very smart!

However, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday stepped up the pressure on the Trump administration to return the seized property sooner rather than later.

“As a rule, we have spoken about the principle of reciprocity,” he told reporters Monday, according to Russian state news agency TASS. “As for Russia’s patience on that matter, it is running out, that has also been mentioned at various levels. As for nuances, this is rather a matter for our foreign ministry.”

I say get out of Crimea, stop jailing and killing your political opposition, stop money laundering in our country, stop still trying to fuck with ours and others elections and THEN we can talk. That would be my policy.

The mistake everyone keeps making is continuing to treat Russia as a legitimate government. They are entirely controlled by the bratva and have a shadow economy completely outside normal channels. Diplomacy does not work with Russia.

Agree with your post except for that part; diplomacy does not work with Putin and mafia.
Don't mistake what I said, Russia does indeed have a government, just not a legitimate one. Given the bratva oversight, what do you think the chances are of a more reasonable head of State? I place it somewhere between zero and, not a chance in hell.

Zilch from the old guard. Now that Putin has his own private reserves to put down any Maidan repeats? Yeah not looking good, but I also don't expect Russians to tolerate his shit forever. A hyper-rich oligarchy ruling a country with a wrecked economy and infrastructure is a recipe for change, especially if you add in elective military campaigns you really can't afford long term. His support is slowly melting, not unlike that of Donald Dump.

Hey Vlad, how's that price per barrel working out for ya? *middle finger*

Here's the thing - not going to happen. The Donbass might still be in play for the future, but Crimea isn't going anywhere short of the Russian Federation ceasing to exist.

The rest is doable though, just unlikely in that Putin needs us as a scapegoat. Blaming everything on America or the ever-popular 'anti-Russia hysteria' gets a shitload of mileage over there.

Obama made an unnecessary move over unfounded rumors. Russian property should be rightfully returned by President Donald J. Trump as a gesture of good will towards the Russian Federation when he visits Moscow.

Your heart really isn't into this any more is it? You're just going through the motions at this point. Sad.

I'm thinking it was the overindulgence with that pot stuff. We warned you.

What does that imply given diplomacy doesn't exactly work with Trump.

As much as I detest Trump, that's a leap of epic proportions.

Well it's not like our state department is exactly stocked with the best and brightest at this point. It's a shambling crew of low morale skeletons.

Gotta "admire" how well politicians can lie and convince people of the most blatant lies.

Like when Billary Clinton said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result" I'm paraphrasing but that's essentially what he said. The funniest thing was how everyone parroted it as if it were true and profound no less.

It's like NO that's not the definition of insanity. The definition of insanity is: Losing touch with reality. Which politicians and religious leaders are more than happy to assist you in doing by lying to you and getting you to believe those lies.

Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result is perfectly sane in some cases. Especially random ones. If I roll the dice should I expect the same result every time? If a lottery machine spits out 6 numbers out of 60 should we expect the same numbers to show up the next time it is run? The machine is doing the same thing but if you expect anything other than a different result maybe you've lost touch with reality and that would be insane. So, at least in the case of random events doing the same thing and expecting a different result would be quite the opposite of insane in fact.

And, not saying he was flawless by any stretch, but that's one of the better presidents we've had. You don't want to know what I think of the worst ones.

They do all seem to have one thing in common though. They lie and they are so good at it they manage to even convince themselves sometimes. Although if they convinced themselves of a lie then they aren't aware they are lying to you.

Putin's pouring salt on an open wound, making America look weak and pressuring us to completely disregard their attack on our democracy.

It's bad, bad, bad. The farther we get into a passive posture the harder it will be to respond without inciting open aggression.

These comments demand open admonition and redoubling statements to the American people of the reasons behind the sanctions. Too bad it won't happen.

That's a quote generally attributed to Einstein. You can carry on explaining why you're cleverer than Einstein if you want though.
