Agreed. The Russians did not even shoot these missiles down. They stood by and let the Syrians take the hits and let them defend themselves. A pitiful performance by the Russians all around.

The only thing more pitiful and pathetic than the Russians is the US and its semi-retarded cruise missiles half of which weren't even shot down, they simply crashed. Probably because they were built by Trump supporters in factories all over America. What an embarrassment for our country, and one that was only exacerbated by Mattis blatantly lying on national television. Only an idiot would actually believe that "100% of 103 missiles hit their targets and Syrian air defenses fired in salute at a later time, blinded by muh tomahawk glory".
I can think of one thing more pitiful and pathetic.

So is this 99% of 1% of 100% certain? You make the claim, don't be lame.

Oh, when does your self imposed exile begin as there's no smoke much less fire to your "coup" thread, or are you going to weasel out. I'm 110% sure I know the answer.

I am not sure I understand your motivations, do you have family in Syria or otherwise engaged in the area?

Yep, this, so much this... Help us JSt0rm, you're our only hope.

I seem to remember that we had people with technical expertise (assuming no shens) but I can't be absolutely sure I'm remembering correctly.

Why does it matter that US media blatantly lies to the US public about military actions in foreign countries? Are you seriously asking that question?

Isn't Faux News the one peddling this stuff, straight from the adminstration's mouth, no questions asked?

.

That was defending themselves? The Americans destroyed everything they wanted to on their terms with no loses.

I am a missile expert. This is in fact the debris of 40 something missiles that missed the target.

Yea I have not a clue, I wasn't saying it wasn't, just commenting on the lovely plant arrangement

Given that this is coming from SouthFront, it doesn't surprise me. They were a useful source for knowing what was going on during the Syrian Civil War during its height, but they take potshots at Western powers every chance they get. I seriously doubt the Russians shot any Western missiles down, and I seriously doubt they even tried for fear of provoking a shootout they cannot win. Russia has a very fine military, but its generals aren't dumb, and neither is Putin. They probably knew when and where the strikes were going to happen by way of the hotline, and were told, and complied, to stay out of the way.

Putin cannot risk any tarnish to his image. Even a brief military exchange with the US and European powers would leave his face looking like he was mauled by a pitbull.

I'm sure they lie. I'm also sure the Russians lie (probably a little more, because the penalties they can impose for leaking information or for reporting any leaked information are certainly harsher).

Without my own intelligence operation to determine the truth, I'm going to have to go with 'somewhere in between the two'. Fortunately I don't need to set up a vast data-gathering network of my own, because this particular question doesn't seem to matter that much. I do strongly suspect this attack, like the preivious airfield bombardment, was mainly a ritualistic gesture, designed to satisify various PR needs and also to give some sort of nod to the idea of maintaining a rule about chemical weapons (though I don't think much was done when Saddam used them against Iran, so it's not an unbreakable rule anyway). Even if they hit most of their targets my guess would be that it's not that hard for a modern nation state to produce chemical weapons and Assad could get something up and running again fairly easily.

Actually, it might also be that the people who design and manage these high-tech lethal toys really like the idea of actually using them for real (like General Turgidson getting overexcited about the unstoppable nature of his nuclear-armed bombers in Dr Strangelove, momentarily forgetting he's talking about the end of the world). I bet that's a factor as well...come to that, the horrible thought occurs to me that the exact same might be a factor in the use of chemical weapons by Assad's people.

Putin already has the stain of hundreds of Russians slaughtered trying to attack a refinery that housed US soldiers and he did nothing. He couldn’t do anything. It’s not sitting well back home.

I guess we didn't need to know Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire vs the original lie.

Let not the the legacy of this administration be lying to the public is normalized

I don't think comparing honest accounting to a family how their service member died is comparable to publicly discussing operational effectiveness of weapon platforms.

To illustrate my point, I care more about why we invaded Iraq and the lies behind that rather than reports/videos on dropping jdams through windows.

Don't get distracted by the fireworks and bomb porn. Question the point of it.

Russians are providing more evidence. Lots of pictures.
sniped bunch of trash from a war zone

Ok, whatever. I'm sure this is as accurate as your Saudi coup thread.

See how that works? Constantly post crappy poorly sourced stories and we don't trust you anymore.

You suck as a troll factory worker. You should self report your poor performance to your supervisor. Maybe they need someone to scrub the toilets.

You don't find the interception of these cruise missiles interesting even on just a scientific basis? This is literally rocket science at work here!

It is amazing that soviet SAMs like the S125 are effective at intercepting low-altitude cruise missiles. The soviets truly were the greatest rocket scientists ever!

I just don't understand why my fellow americans, such as yourself, have such little scientific curiosity. You would gladly swallow the oozing spittle of a Trump supporter like Mattis than even gaze briefly upon the evidence at hand.

Do you accept at all the possibility that Russia is lying and the debris they are showing was found spent on target? That they are trying to save face after being either unable or incapable of preventing it at all?

Or does your curiosity stop at questioning a regime notorious for lying and fabricating evidence?

I think it is far, far more likely that the nation notorious for fabricating evidence for military strikes in the middle is is telling the lies, especially when they refuse to provide any evidence despite everyone knowing that if the strikes happened as they said they did, then they would have footage to prove it.

The US could dispel all of this by showing the footage we all know they have of this strike. Why aren't they providing ANY evidence? US has world's best surveillance and command and control, world's most advanced air force. They have footage of this strike... but for some reason they won't show it...

The only evidence needed is the Americans said they were going to blow some stuff up. The Americans launched some missiles. Everything the Americans said they'd blow up was obliterated.

This is a terrible issue for the Russians to try to save face on. They would be better off saying nothing and hoping that nothing more is mentioned about it.

The pentagon was very careful not to announce any of the targets before hand. So of course they hit "what they wanted to hit".... they announced what they wanted to hit after they hit it. lol.

Great circular logic to support your quintessentially british faith in American military supremacy.
