Well let's just sit back and see if Trump can drag us into war with Russia. I think that's what this country voted for, right?

....Who would put it past him to escalate just so that, in his mind, he would think it proves "No Collusion!" Yeah, pretty much every human believes this cvnt would do something like that.

I have to give props to Nikki Haley for being a worse UN Ambassador than John Bolton ever was. Double props because John Bolton was a true believer in his rubbish whereas Nikki Haley doesn't seem to believe in anything but Nikki Haley.

Using chemical weapons is OK now?

Ever since Trump got elected, yep. He's Putin's stooge.

Putin is simply giving his lap dog a slap on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. "Bad doggy! No threatening Damascus!"

I don't think you have that quite right. Russians shoot down our planes and Trump blames Dems, the MSM and Hillary, in no particular order.

WITCH HUNT!

To save Syrians, let Assad win

It can be counter intuitive for people to realize that by letting folks die today, you prevent killing more tomorrow. But that's certainly a valid choice for us, if that's what we want to do.

Look objectively at what America has done.

It toppled a SECULAR autocracy in Iraq. In a poll which I shared in another thread, over 90% of its population support Sharia law. America appears to have replaced secular autocracy with theocracy:
The Constitution promises several civil liberties including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of peaceful assembly, freedom of expression, a free press, and a right to have a private life. All such personal liberties contain two main exemption clauses: the Iraqi Council of Representatives has the power to define what these freedoms mean, and, that no freedom may conflict with Islamic morality.[2]

Islam is the official state religion, and no law may be enacted or enforced that violates the "undisputed" teachings of Islam. An official English translation of the Iraqi Constitution is available online at the Iraqi government's homepage
.

It toppled a secular autocracy in Libya (which at the time was one of the richest nations on the African continent). They now have a failed state, open market slave trading and an imploded gdp. The chances are high that they will eventually end up with a theocratic autocracy unless America meddles again and prevents any party from winning.

America is currently is in the process of attempting to topple a secular autocracy in Syria with.... what?

From my POV, it seems that the American government is intent on getting theocracies installed in every country in the Middle East. With regards to the Middle East, American policy is nearly incoherent. What exactly are we trying to achieve?

Control of the Middle East requires bloody conquest over religious nuts. Military dictators ARE the natural evolution of human society from the splintered and broken tribesmen throughout the region. The issue we face in Syria is that outside parties, especially the United States, fueled, armed, and organized "rebel" resistance. Meanwhile, Assad has been acting in excess and brutally slaughtering many more than is necessary to win the war.

Whether we want to seize control and limit the damage is the present issue. Our leaders are fairly united in demanding the use of force to "save lives". Not only do we risk failure in our mission by furthering war and violence instead of preventing it, Russia has vowed escalation and retaliation if we intervene. It's a no win scenario for those who want us to step in.

What are the alternatives? What is our role in Syria's future?

If only we had the ability to see this coming years ago when we got involved in Syria.

Holy shit this is a crazy morning. Nikki Haley has been at the UN talking abut strikes on Syria and Russia just responded in an unprecedented way - by threatening to shoot down US planes or attack US ships!

I wonder if this has anything to do with Tillerson being ousted?

It's impressive to me how this 'witch hunt' keeps turning up witches, haha. We've got close to 20 people indicted at this point.

Russia is bluffing, it's kind of sad to see it looking more and more like North Korea.
Turkish F16 blew a Russian bomber out of the sky, and Russians banned Turkish tomatoes for a little bit and moved on.
Several hundred Russian mercenaries got shredded when they tried to take an oil processing plant from a few Kurds and US special forces with zero losses on the other side. Russia covered it up and hushed it up to avoid embarrassment. These were experienced professional combatants who fought in Donbass. Regular Russian 18 year old conscripts would start running long before it came to that.
Russian weapons are old Soviet junk for the most part. When they rolled out some ancient destroyer that barely made it to Syria, it looked like a steam ship. Yes, some SAMs are OK, but they are few and far between and would be taken out very quickly with drones and cruise missiles. Also, Russian economy would fold under additional sanctions, and Russian elites want to be able to house their families and money in the West.

And the only ones indicted for colluded with the Russians... are Russians. Haha. Useful Russian lefty stooge.

Stop being a dumbass.

Did the Russians interfere? Yes.
Did they know what they were doing? Yes.

Pretty much propaganda to destroy a country.. just like ukraine.

Don't be surprised if the US breaks into smaller countries if Russia succeeds. It's not like we'll change our political views anytime soon.. they are too cemented and I don't think anyone wants a civil war.
