Rutgers player sues Don Imus

Imus, along with MSNBC, NBC Universal, CBS Radio, CBS Corp., Viacom Inc., Westwood One Radio and Imus producer Bernard McGuirk are named in the suit.

I'm sure most people here won't be fans of this lawsuit. I think it's pretty frivolous myself, but really...is anyone surprised? I can't believe it's taken this long for a suit to be filed. I wonder how many players will follow?

How are their reputations damaged anyways? They can spin it like a racist made a stupid comment about them (the comment stems from racism not truth...how does that damage your rep?). What was that old saying about sticks and stones...

As a Rutgers alum, I'm disappointed in her.

Then again, if she went to an interview for a job where the interviewer was an Imus fan, would the interviewer try to hold Imus' firing against her? Obviously the interviewer should not, but you never know..

I don't think that unlikely scenario warrants a lawsuit against Imus.

I hope the judge throws this out and makes her pay everything for wasting the court's time. However she'd probably then just sue the judge for racial discrimination...

They were waiting for the outcome of the lawsuit Imus had with CBS which was settled today.

Don Imus has reached a settlement with CBS over his multimillion-dollar contract and is negotiating to resume his broadcasting career.

Imus and CBS Radio "have mutually agreed to settle claims that each had against the other regarding the Imus radio program on CBS," the network and Imus' attorney Martin Garbus said in a joint statement Tuesday.

The terms of the settlement will not be disclosed, according to the statement.
The settlement pre-empts the dismissed radio personality's threatened $120 million breach-of-contract lawsuit.

You can always sue anyone. When you have lawyers willing to go to bat for free (on a future percentage of winnings) the only loser is usually the taxpayer and the person attacked.

Lawyers know someone like Imus will probably pay it out for a settlement where he is not guilty of anything but is simply looking to halt the proceedings. They suck a few million out of him it's just free money.
