Recently I picked up an XFX RX 480 8GB RS for a steal, seller said the card didn’t work and sold it as-is for parts.... I paid well under market value and was pleasently surprised when I connected it to my test bench and it fired right up and ran great!
After some basic stabilty tests I decided to see how / if it would OC and it seems to still work great.
The power limit in Wattman is capped at +20% as well as MSI AB and every other bit of software I tried, currently it’s completely stable at 1340MHz 1150mv 70c with the Samsung memory untouched (crashes at even +25MHz over the stock 2000MHz), but any higher requires more voltage which also forces it to throttle against the power limit thus making it counterproductive unless the power limit is raised. I seem to recall that we could up the power limit +50% before and there was an issue with the card drawing more than 75w through the PCIe slot and AMD addressed that with a driver/software update, so:
