Ryobi 3/8" Variable Speed Drill - Model D40K

Just returned from Natick, MA Home Depot. They had maybe 10 drills with a posted price of WAS $24.97, now $12.96. At check out, the drill rang up for $29.97, but after one of the floor guys took the shelf price tag and showed it to the cashier, I got it for the $12.96. No more futile searches for the chuck key!

how much should a decent corded drill cost?

Personally I would prefer Makita or Milwakee but they're more expencive. Then again, they'll most likely be here in another hundred years. I've never been happy with ryobi, it just doesn't perform on par with comparable versions of Makita or Milwakee. Some of the older guys I'm sure still have some of the old makita adjustable screwdrivers when cordless first came out. 20+ years and still going now.

That being said ryobi does make decently priced drills. For a good 1/2 drill I'd see paying around sixty-ninty bucks. But thats a heavy duty drill, if you won't use it often grab the ryobi, its still a good price at 30$

I'm assuming these are the 7.2v drills, rather timid imo. I'm also assuming Ryobi's really suck because HD has had these on sale at <black&decker type prices - am I right that they suck and are basically for housewives hanging pictures etc?

Actually, they are 120VAC corded drills - note title line. iT seems to be good for a lot of things; lateral boring in the ends of boards, driving 5/16" lag screws, and hemorrhoid removal.

Isn't it by law that home depot is sopose to give it to you for free? When you see a higher price and is lower? or is it the other way around ring up a lower price and you can pay for that price?
