Notice how they compare to a 6700k. Looks like 8700k if OCing is still the way to go.

I’m curious if there’s any plan for a 2800X or if what we see is what we get.

Price and performance wise this is an okay upgrade over a 1700X, but disappointing compared to an 1800X.

I'm betting the 2800X will be based off the same high quality dies that Threadripper will be based off from, also, AMD will wait to see if Intel launches an 8740k to compete.

That's a Threadripper with 8 cores @ 4.3 GHz vs the 2700X, and I can guarantee you that the 2700X was NOT running at 4.3 GHz or any higher for that test if it was running at stock speeds.

That's my bet too.
As 1900X turned out to be pointless there won't be a 2900X, so they will wait for some volume of best dies and release the 2800X.

Plenty of people bought the 1800X. It would be very bad NOT to release an AM4 2800X, it sends a bad marketing message. We'll get a 2800X, but it will probably be clocked to ridiculous like 4.3/4.7 GHz and it'll have a 125 watt TDP. Threadripper has already been confirmed to remain 29xx during a couple AMD interviews, so that leaves a gap. They also can't make the 2800X TR4 because it would confuse consumers.

No, AMD, is biding it's time. We'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: Oh and based on the posts I've seen on reddit and elsewhere, plenty of people bought the 1900x simply to get on the TR4 platform or have quad channel memory.

I have heard unconfirmed murmurings that point to monday, though. I guess I'll know if they were right tomorrow...
