The BF5 numbers look great, i had picked my 8700 non k some time ago for the max 1080p results but that 3600 gives it a nice run for the money. Assuming boards get cheaper soon,i can see the 3600 being the new $200 favorite. The 3600 simply shines. It should be the default $200 choice period if a game is heavily threaded.
An MSI B450 Tomahawk for $100 is more than enough for a $200 chiplets. No need for a X570 imo.

And for many of us it is a drop in replacement.

I guess i meant more as a fresh build as those cheaper boards would require a bios update which in turn requires a cpu. Me myself i know no one with a a AMD well besides myself and a 8350. With any luck maybe newer batches of the B450 will have it updated?

The Tomahawk has bios flashback so it is good to go.

Very nice then have fun with it go wild! I guess i forget some of these brands have such features,i have been kind of used to el cheapo H61/H67/H81 and for basic builds and strictly gaming they have been alright. I got a mountain of stuff to consume with my recent ROG Strix B360-G purchase. I had a brief run in with the Z96 Gene some years ago but besides that i haven't used a feature rich motherboard full time since my P6T Deluxe.

Is that feature compatible with the mass majority of motherboards? Does it carry over to Asus, MSI and Asrock boards too? Should be good need to know information for anyone in the market at least for a 3000 series yet are scared off by current 500 series motherboard pricing.

That list should be mandatory where ever the 3000 series cpu is sold. Me i usually like using cheaper motherboards cause they offer what you need and nothing more. You should post it in the builders thread.

In exactly the same place.

AMD sold all the CPU's they could get manufactured during this period and were supply constrained.

Shortly after Conroe came out, AMD was picked up by Dell and despite now being far less attractive an option due to Conroe, couldn't adequately supply their regular retail channels, due to giving Dell first bite of the cherry.

How on Earth could they have done any better when the K8 was the undisputed King?

People need to stop telling themselves this comforting lie that AMD would have been great, if not for nasty Intel doing the dirty on them.

I kind of knew you were here just to bring up the same old arguments. You've been knocking this revisionist history since this stupid thread here

How capacity constrained will AMD be for the next 4 years?

Conroe was 3 years after the Hammer cores and well over a year after the AMD lawsuit was filed.

If your history was the case. The FTC judgement would have been lifted.

Bingo. X570 is also rough on power consumption! Outside of edge cases, most people are better off with B450/X470. Cheaper, cooler, more readily available, longer proven durability, no chipset fan that is already an issue for many GPUs, etc.

You can still be fined for speeding, even if you don't crash your car.

Just because Intel didn't materially effect AMD, doesn't mean they weren't crossing a line with their behaviour.

And I am sorry that the concept of being capacity constrained is something you are unable to grasp.

Disjointed logic? Fallacy

Yes having the best processor for 3 years and zero major OEMS sounds like zero material effect.

And I am sorry that the concept of being capacity constrained is something you are unable to grasp.

Oh I understand artificial capacity constraints.

and I'm sure you will continue using past arguments and false equivalences just like the old toms days.

How much in damages did AMD win against Intel, if Intel affected their business to the extent you believe they did?

Didn't HP(Intel's partner with Itanium) start selling AMD servers?

Chad stop taking this OT, or it will not end well for you. It is clear you would like nothing better than for this thread to get locked. Just stop.

What utter rot. How do you even come to such a conclusion.

And if you check back, you should be able to see that I was not the person who started talking about this subject.

On a cool note, with Zen2 it seems like there is little reason not to go with an affordable B450 Mobo and basic 3000 or 3200 memory along with stock cooling. Very little gain from pressing higher than that, totally marginal. While it might not be thrilling from an enthusiast/tuner perspective, it's great from a value point of view. More $ for storage/GPU/whatever.

So EposVox and Wendell from L1 Techs apparently did a collab on Ryzen 3000/Navi reviews for content creation and game streaming. There are several youtube vids linked in Wendell's L1Techs Ryzen 3000 & Navi megathread, but this one is the most relevant for game streaming performance:

tl;dw - Ryzen 3900X is a monster, 3700X is reasonably capable, and EposVox wants Threadripper 3000 now because the 3900X makes even his delidded, lapped, overclocked to the max 7980XE obsolete. All on a $50 B450 board. "V8 in a Go-Kart, and the Go-Kart is beating the Ferrari" LOL

yep
b450 looks the best ATM, recommended 2 pieces last 2 days
btw my b450 is on the way too
/sarcasm on
how the enthusiasts (translate fanboys) forgot about PCIE 4.0 and are silent of x570, since it is such a trainwreck, it is clear how pcie 4 advantage is nowhere to be seen around
wonder why lol
/sarcasm off
