I will pimp this APU to shoppers yet again.
B550 boards can be found for sub $100 now NIB. Also, unlike the main competition at the price level, the 12400, it can be overclocked. My 5600g did 4.7GHz all core simply by selecting game mode in the MSI UEFI. And of course the iGPU, if you are using it, is much faster for gaming, and is overclockable as well.
One caveat - remember it is PCIE 3.0 so a RX 6400 or 6500 is a bad pairing for it. Besides they would bottleneck it pretty hard.
You don't have to spend a lot to fully leverage the 5600g since it is a 88W package power CPU.What MB would you suggest for this chip? I haven't built a PC since 2015 and at this price point I think it might be time to upgrade/build a new PC. I currently have an EVGA RTX 2060 12gb, Corsair Vengeance 16gb ram (2x8gb @ 3200) and i'll be grabbing this processor for my new build. I don't care about RGB and all those other bells and whistle add-ons. Thanks.
It is still that price for me. Sold and shipped by Amazon.May have grabbed the last of the Amazon-shipped ones at $132.19, they now seemed to have upped the price back to $150+ (actually, it just seems to be going in and out of stock). There's still the cheaper option sold by Ibushak, but they charge $15 shipping... I will build a 2.5Gb Linux router with this CPU, have nearly all the hardware I need already, probably still a performance overkill for this purpose, but can't resist the price...
I'm seeing the same thing. I think Amazon's auto pricing is trying to keep up with that ibushark seller. It is still that price for me. Sold and shipped by Amazon.
