These can do as much as 4.7GHz all core. Mine is in an Mini ITX so I have it set to 45W ECO with the +200MHz and it boost to 4.65GHz. The overclocking capability makes it the best buy in the price range IMO. Combine it with the $107 Steel Legend B550 and that is mighty impressive budget gamer.

That's going to come down to if the buyer can stretch that far. If they can, 5700x is the easy pick. It will ensure the headroom for console targets, the extra API overhead, decompression, ray tracing, etc.

Otherwise that $70 means a higher tier of GPU, which is the better place to spend the money overall.

The 5500 doesn't compare at all to the 5600. You either want the 5600 or the 5700x. There is no silicon lottery here. They all perform the same. 4700mhz is max stable all core. 5600 is the same as the 5600x but on a new stepping.

5500 has the cut down 16MB L3 cache and PCIe 3.0. It should be a $100 or less now to even be considered.
