And of course, some are throwing out click bait titles to get views (Jay does say in the video that they basically have to use titles like this or no one watches).

So apparently there’s already drama about a couple of people burning up their 9800X3D.

And it’s likely user error. Here’s Buildzoid’s take on it:

take a look after the chip is in. I think the metal of the socket does not have that much play to allow that, The chip in that picture is not square in the socket !

Nah, he's just willing to trade audience quality for short term volume.

I can understand goofing around with the thumbnail image to get more clicks, but once you start messing with video titles, channel audience quality will inevitably go down. And then click baiting will become even more important, it's a death spiral essentially.

I stopped looking at J2C videos for this exact reason - clickbait titles and thumbnails, lower quality content.

AM5 series motherboards are fully compatible with the AMD Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D processor, ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi, ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi, and TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi motherboards all give you a great platform for your AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU

Nvidia marketing and monopoly does wonders unfortunately.

I wonder why loserbenchmark doesn't call out Nvidia's marketing army then? Oh wait, because AMD gave them AIDS. For such an "Advanced Marketing Devices" company their marketing has been rubbish for years.

I think the best response is - Yes J, they are blowing up. Now everyone stop buying them so I can get my hands on one before 2025.

A few comments on the video.

1. Finding a CPU heavy area in Callisto Protocol resulted in a big performance gap.
2. Geomean sucks and understates the real differences in CPU performance for gaming.
3. EAC is still broken with the 285K. Hopefully the fixes coming the end of this month or early next, get the arrow flying truer. Until such time, it is another Greek tragedy.
4. Zen 5 being faster in photoshop is a first, in like forever, correct?

I think a weighted average is best.

Hexus used to do one where a 20% increase from 50 to 60 FPS was weighted far higher than a 20% increase from 500 to 600 FPS.

To me that makes sense. Improvements that get you above 60 FPS are far more important than improvements that get you above 600. For most people.

So in this suite with a weighted average the Homeworld 3 improvement would skew the average higher.

On the topic of AM5 installation, I have to say though that this point during my 7800x3d install made me feel pretty uncomfortable:

To be specific, the 'lips' of the socket assembly that come over the top of the CPU aren't sticking up, but I would have been somewhat more comfortable about my first time installing an AM5 CPU if those had lined up nicely with the CPU!

That's a legit beef. But an issue easily avoided with a $10 contact frame, if anyone is feeling sketch about the ILM.

You could cut this test suite down to 20 of the more CPU bound games and it'd be an even more embarrassing average number for Intel. I'd be hard pressed to even really call that cherry picking. Adding a bunch of GPU bound results is arguably more misleading.

4. Zen 5 being faster in photoshop is a first, in like forever, correct?
Nope. Premiere Pro is where intel has an advantage. Zen 4 and 5 do well in the puget photoshop bench.

Right on. It is going to be extremely interesting to see how much the 5090 helps in some of those titles.

Shows how long it's been since I paid any attention at all to productivity benches. And while I would not trust Pudget to give me the correct time of day after their gaslighting CPU failure stats, I trust others have verified that their tests are legit and not designed to favor Intel as much as possible.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. If the 9800X3D is this much faster with a 2 year old 4090, it's probably going to be ridiculous with a 5090.

Intel has historically had a bit of advantage in Premiere Pro using H.264/H.265 because of quick sync. It looks like the PudgetBench leverages hardware encoding/decoding on some of the H.264/H.265 tests.
