Just getting older and PC gaming ain't a hobby anymore, sadly.
Offtopic: You are cool as hell, and I hate to read this. Don't allow anything to make your inner child grow up. We are Toys R Us Kids goddamn it. 🫵 You don't need the latest greatest to play games anyways. That might be your problem, the big budget AAA dog crap killing your passion for it. Try some indy and AA stuff. Genres you don't usually play. I played Marvel's Midnight Suns thinking I'd dislike it. To my surprise, turned based card games are fun as hell.

On topic: Leo is not letting AMD hide the 12 core; he bought it himself

Did you finally get your servers upgraded with Turin or Genoa???
No…

Heh, it’s not for a lack of interest, but more for a lack of time. I have other hobbies now, like cycling and motorcycling, which are plenty fun. They are big boy toys, basically.

I hope you are doing those two things in "safe" areas. I used to ride a motorcycle and bicycle. Too old for the latter now (even the idea of pedaling makes my legs ache) and I'm too lucky that I didn't become permanently disabled doing the former.

Yeah, thanks. What I lack in youth I make up in responsibility.

9 series 3D dominate retail sales, yet this story has not picked up any momentum. What do we have so far, less than 50 reports total? And as I demonstrated in the thread about someone buying 40 as is for parts AM5 boards, almost all of them were PICNIC. ASRock releases a statement showing there was foreign debris in the socket (probably pet hair?) and the board worked after cleaning. That was one board. This latest story is also about one board/ user. It'll take more time before I am ready to declare it a nothing burger, but I am starting to lean that direction.

The 9950X3D is their highest ASP mainstream part and they can't keep up with demand. As I wrote over a month ago, reports should be pouring in with how many units have sold. So far that has not happened.

ASROCK is most likely weaker than ASUS and maybe even Gigabyte, unfortunately, no other way to put it. I have a server mobo and in almost 20+ power cycles, it has booted exactly 3 times with two video cards installed. Gets stuck with code 94 (graphics card not recognized). Hate to have to pull everything out to diagnose the issue.

ASROCK is the budget-friendly division of ASUS, generally good and cheap but can have reliability issues

If I remember right, that is how they started out, an off brand for Asus to experiment with in like 2010. Then they were sold off and then bought again by the conglomorate that had bought Asus in that time so that now both brands are under the same management.

It finally worked! Had to turn off virtualization in BIOS and change the PCIe slot to Gen3 mode (from Auto). Thanks to @Skillz

Yes, ASROCK spun off from ASUS ages ago. I was unaware that someone bought them out and brought them under the same corporate umbrella.

Glad he made this and hope people will stop asking for 4k benchmarks in cpu reviews.

But who am I kidding they still will.
The goalpost is a drone at this point. They can move it wherever they need to. Hell there are comments in this thread about how we don't need CPUs this fast for 4K gaming. I sort of wish the psyop worked so 3D prices would drop.

The problem now is GPUs. Anything that would ne needed is not available. a 4070super is $1000 and that is beyond many peoples budget. $600 for a 4070 open box !

Yes new GPUs are scarce, but there are a LOT of RX 9070 series being sold, and over time supply will continue to improve.
