I wonder if this will fix ours & their stats too.

Yes, Cory, SetiQ is for Winblows. But there are several other DOS batch programs, like SetiBuf and SetiCache that do about the same thing. It shouldn't be too hard to write some shell scripts to do the same thing in Linux.

Since I couldn't find anything to cache just 4 WUs for the WinNT Cmdline client, I wrote a couple of batch files to do it for me. Basically, you make several directories and run seti sequentially through each one with -stop_after_process (or -stop_after_xfer to send in results.) In Linux you could even do links to common files!

i have scripts like that for unixware that i tried
running on connections i had uucp setup for.

i just remember having some issues when trying to
run this on a couple of machines and when i turn
off seti during office hours.
(seti hogs the bus and would put some delays into some programs
that were unacceptable, and to then get that to work on
over 60 or 70 or however many i have it running on now would
be a pain)

i might take another wack at it to see if i can make
install and run smoother.

Haven't you got even just 1 Windows networked PC to put SETIQ on?

does the windows box have to be on the same network
segment or could it be on the other side of a proxy?

will seqiq when running on win98 be able to queue
requests from linux and unix boxes?

i.e. is it like a proxy itself?

The setiQ server can be anywhere. It acts like a proxy server to the client and as a client to the S@H server.
To use a setiQ server you just have to set the proxy server setting to it's servers name (if in DNS) or IP and the port to 5512.

it can deal with any OS, I have linux, Solaris, NT, 98, 95 all going to the same SETIQ server...
The only thing is (but it probably won't affect you), you can't mix 2.x and 1.x clients....
So if you have any Solaris 2.5.1 boxes that still only have a 1.3 client, you need to set up a server just for them...
I have around 35 WU/day coming from boxes like this, I never bothered setting up a SETIQ specificaly for them so I have lost a few WU these last few days...
