Whilst your right about SETI using 14Mb of RAM ,it does manage to tax the memory bus heavily ,eg 1 of my herd was a PII 333 (66MHZ FSB ,CAS3),it would average 12.5hrs/WU ,whilst my PII 233 @ 280mhz (2.5x112MHz,CAS2) is averaging 10.5hrs/WU!.
I believe the formula used by SETI is just above 512k ,hence it needs to access the RAM frequently (unless you have 1Mb+ Xeons of course).
I think your probably right though when you say that your high bandwidth is offset by the higher latency as far as SETI performance goes.Your WU times seem about average for the cpu clock speed & FSB speed you have ,of course they are still fast times
BTW we also have our own SETI/RC5 benchmark page ,why not enter your PC's specs & times ,you'd be our first RDRAM system in their

BTW I hope you can get your friend to join ,that would be excellent.Tell him about the stats ,UT servers ,& helpful forum
Hehe ,you could tell him too that we have free lap dancers come to your house on request
