I've got a new (cheapo) motherboard that has a 2 pin S/PDIF connector. I'd like to use this externally with a stereo and found the following items that may work:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gigabyte-P-...=Laptop_Adapters_Chargers&hash=item3a85c37d02
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/V-2-Gigabyt...=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3cd52218cb
Both of these are 3-pin. I assume that's b/c there's ground, S/PDIF Optical, and S/PDIF Coaxial.
Reasonable for me to assume that I could use 2 of the pins to get S/PDIF Coax out of this and hook up to my stereo rather than a video card (alternatively, I could use optical)? I can't do the video card route since my display takes HDMI, but doesn't have audio itself.
Thanks for any pointers !
