S-Video out on NVIDIA cards...

Anyone get it to work? I am attempting to get it running on my GF4 Ti4200, but it does not seem to output. I know TV's need a resolution of 640x480 to display properly, however the f*****g card only lets me drop the max res to 800x600. WTF gives? I've downloaded the NVIEW software as well to see if it gives me an option...but to no avail.

Ideally I'd just like to be able to flip back and forth from my LCD to the TV (for emulators and divx), but according to the nvidia documentation, you cannot do this. I've tried what teh site says (shut down system, unplug DVI or analog input, plug in SVIDEO to RCA adapter and reboot without DVI or Analog input hooked up).

It's really starting to annoy me Any reccomendations?? Perhaps the converter on my card is bad, but whenever I boot with only the SVIDEO hooked up, i get a "flicker" on my TV that indicates some type of signal is being sent, however I KNOW it's not in the standard 640x480, and i've tried to get it running in 800x600 but no f*****g luck

Since you say the minimum resolution is 800, I assume you're running XP. Are you running a refresh rate fixer for XP? If so, you need to enable 60hz as an option for the resolution that you are doing TV-out. That should be the only issue.

Just yesterday I was experiencing the same problems with my nvidia geforce4 card, only I was trying to use the RCA video out. Try going to display properties-->settings tab-->advanced-->geforce ti 4200 tab

there should be an expandable menu on the left side of the window, with nview display mode being a selection. click on it, then mark the "clone" selection. this should send a signal to your tv. make sure your monitor is set as primary display in the menu underneath.

you can set your monitor resolution to 800x600 so that it all appears on the tv screen, makes it a little less annoying. in order to properly display divx's and dvds, click on the overlay selection from that expandable menu. select "secondary display" (your tv) as the full screen device. this means whenever you open media player, or a dvd program, the tv will make the video full screen while your monitor will still display it windowed. neat, huh?

hope this helps. i'm still ironing out the details myself, but hope this is of use to you. enjoy!

I have the same problem (not really a problem, just wanted to show a "console-er" friend how much lower the resolutions on a TV are) with my Gainward ti4400, it probably is the refresh rate setting, as I do use ReForce. It works splendidly on my MX420 though, so I doubt it's a problem with NVidia cards in general.

Sadly none of the above options worked

Every option but DVI is greyed out and unselectable, including Clone. I've tried 800x600, I've tried the reccomended instructions on NVIDIA's website (power down, hook up svideo, unhook monitor) book up with only TV hooked up. Nothing is working and it's driving me INSANE

Did you check your TV menu to see if the Svideo is the intended video input? I have an RCA 32 " TV. On my remote I have an "input" button that switches my video input. BUT I can change what that button does from the Channels menu when I choose an input source. I need to choose S-video instead of analog for my tv to accept any s-video source. It works fine with my puter. GeForce 2 Ti TV-out.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I have a fairly simple (though brandnew) 13in TV in my office.

Toshiba TV that uses RCA input. I am using the S-Video converter that comes with the card (SVIDEO to RCA)

Let's try this:

Control Panel->Display->Settings->Advanced->Monitor tab: uncheck "hide modes that this monitor cannot display"

Go to the adaptor tab, click on "List all modes" and see if you have 640x480 as an option.

Whew......I thought it was my card, but I have a similar problem with a Leadtek A280LE TDH GF4 Ti4200.

But it's not the resolution that's giving me problems. I'm not getting a signal from my system to the TV. The WinFox TV Utility software will not allow me to set the TV-Out to ENABLE (1) TV-Out Function Setting and (2) TV-Out Mode under the Mode Setting tab.

S-Video out worked fine my ATI Radeon VE, under any resolution, but this Leadtek problem is really p***ing me off.

Rooster286,

I fixed my S-Video problem. Problem lay with a cable and the nView setup as Stinkymeat described (your input was a tremendous help), but had to uninstall everything for the Video card. Even spoke with a Leadtek Tech on the phone who told me I had my cable connected wrong.

This was only tested using S-Video out (Leadtek A280LE TDH MyVivo) to S-Video in (27" RCA).

The Clone option was grayed out because I had my cable plugged in wrong. Leadtek provides an S-Video splitter cable with dual S-Video and RCA connectors (1 set for in and 1 set for out - I had it hooked to the IN). I don't know what card you have.

Uninstall all drivers for nVidia. Regardless of the driver version, it should still work. I installed the original drivers that came with the card, then uninstalled every one of them (including the ehancement drivers (WDM, PVR, etc), reinstalled only the nVidia Video drivers and it worked, then I reinstalled the latest from nVidia and it still works.

nView Setup:

nView Modes - Clone
Display - nView Display 1: Analog Display
- nView Display 2: TV M/NTSC
Overlay Controls - Full Screen Device: Secondary Display
Zoom Control - Video Mirror - Out

Refresh: 60Hz

OS: WindowsXP Pro

DualView can be quite good, just have the TV act as a seperate output, unless you were wanting to clone specifically. I find it annoying the way you have to reboot twice to get it to do anything, but my output works fine at 1024x768@60Hz (looks OK), but when I have it hooked up in Dualview, I can;'t watch DVD's due to the mode of output, apparently (Power DVD4, not sure if it's related to the macrovision thing).
Glad to hear you sorted your problems.

The one thing I noticed is the background areas are a little green or fuzzy, regardless of resolution. Can't figure out what's causing it.

I'm having no luck unfortunately.....I'm hoping that the SVIDEO to RCA adapter is bad, I'm going to get another from Radio Shack tomarrow. Thanks for all your input everyone and I'll keep you updated on the status.
