S-video vs Component Input

But my beloved AT&T "digital" cable box only has composite output... My TiVo has S-video in and out, but no component. However, my Toshiba SD-1600 has component out and my XBR400 has component in (I'm using S-video because I happened to have an S-video cable at the time, but no component), so I might try some rewiring to see if I notice a difference.

This explains why my "digital cable" looks like regurgitated dog poop compared to the DVD..

Yup. Composite is HORRIBLE.

For sh!ts & giggles hook up your DVD player by composite.

You'll be amazed.

I can't tell the difference. I put component video on my DVD player and feel like I got ripped off. I returned them and got the cheaper SVideo cable for it.

OT, but I heard they were gonna start using FireWire between home theater A/V equipment...or something very similar to FireWire (a sort of A/V Bus.) But I can't remember what its called or where to find more information. Anyone here know what I'm talking about?

Are you comparing S-video to component or component to composite?

What tv do you have? how big?

I have components inputs on my Toshiba 32" and it looks really nice. I can't say how much better than Svideo as I've never tried a side by side comparison. Though I've heard the different is noticeable.
