Because it was right on his desktop, it was 2AM, I was inebriated, and it felt like the thing to do at the time (I believe my mind slurred the fact that I was on a computer into what I had been doing earlier in the day - doing the 'ol cyberforensics schtick.

The simple truth is that if women didn't eagerly accept the standards, then the standards would be revised. Both genders are responsible and blaming it all on men is ignorant. Women pay lip-service to the "it shouldn't matter what women look like" but then go out and spend hundreds on clothing and make-up because they themselves care.

it does go both ways. guys are supposed to be a certain way aswell. Women also pressure women into being a certain way, by their moms to be girly and wear makeup and to be good little girls etc. I am also sure there are a lot fo women in charge of the fashion industry, cosmetics, etc, that feed the same crap to other women all in the name of a dollar.
it is our society, not just men. Yes there are lots of gorgeous girls that think they are not beautiful or fat or whatever, but there are also lots of less (if at all) attractive who are happy with who they are, goes lots of ways.

Exactly. I'm I always tell the girls i'm dating how good i think they look. Yet when i ask them why they spend an hour in the bathroom making changes that I can barely notice, they say "i'm doing it for myself". Yeah, like they would be doing it if they were spending the night alone. They're doing it because they think someone (other guys? other girls?) will notice and either ridicule them for not looking a certain way or praise them because they are.

Females have fooled themselves into thinking that that the women and gay men who run the fashion world somehow know what heterosexual men want. I have yet to meet a straight man who cares how straight or long a women's eyelashes are. All women have had some man tell her how ridiculous those women's magazines are, yet they continue to buy them and buy into the values and products they're selling. So either the women are too stupid/brainwashed to listen to what real life men are saying, or they're not doing it for men at all.

Now yes, we men do ask girls to be in shape. Not anorexic, just to be without the pot belly. I think that's entirely reasonable, and I will continue to encourage fitness. When I got out of shape for the first time in my life last year, I immediately changed my diet and started working out and i'm now in the best shape of my life. I don't ask girls to do anything I wouldn't do myself.

It was a thoughtful thing for the OP to post, however, I DO NOT want to look good for anyone else but myself (women realize they have to love themselves and do what pleases them)
I buy the clothes i enjoy wearing... wear makeup ( a lot or a little) that I want, color my hair if i chose and buy big boobs because it makes ME happy.

I do know a lot of women (single especially) that dress to impress men but it takes time and understanding that you have to do it for yourself. When you are happy with yourself, it will shine through to the "outside".

Men are visual creatures so i have been told... and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not all men like long colored hair. Not all men want big boobs. Not all men like high heels, etc.
