This ram is great, I did my research before I purchased it.

It was either this or Crucial Ballistix.

Anand's test favore the MSI,tom's favored the Asus a8v. Not much difference though...it's that close.

I think the EB is now harder to find, that RAM you linked is supposed to be good to. Also, Crucial Ballistix is good too.

The EB is getting VERY rare, excaliburpc may have some.

I've been looking at S939 with the recent release of the S939 3000+ and 3200+ and it just seems like the obvious choice in S939 right now is the ASUS A8V rev. 2.0. The MSI looks alright, but I've had several ASUS boards and one friend with an MSI that I've had considerable experience working with. Based on my own personal experience, I'd always choose ASUS over MSI.

The OCZ Gold REV 3 got a better review on AT than the Gold REV 2. This is specific to the A64 platform. For the P4 the 4000 is probably better, but for the A64 the 3700 Rev 3 is high on the list, at least according to AT (who got 270 FSB 1:1 with the 3700 Rev 3, but there's always the question of cherrypicking for reviewers)

Im wondering about this myself. I plan on getting one of the new s939 90nm 3200s and was thinking about the MSI Neo2 Plat. Well, Im really unsure about that one because of so many problems people have had with it, and no I see it doesn't even support the new CPUs right now. The guys at Futuremark suggested I go with the Asus A8V(r2.0). I kinda didnt want to go with a VIA board, but this one sounds fairly nice. Any word on its support for the new 939s?

Also, has there been any official word on a S939 DFI board? From what Ive heard over on Futuremark, the board was dropped about a month ago. Id wait for it, but I dont want to wait and find out its not even coming along.

I dunno...still can't decide what board to get.

This is actually not true. The 1.2 BIOS - DO support the revision D A64 (90 nm).

Hi, my configuration is pretty much the same as yours, but since I bought it a week ago I can't make it work with any stability. Are you having any stability problems with your configuration?
Basically I'm having 2 problems

- Computer hangs on POST. Odly enough the problem only happens on warm boots. If I shut down the computer (even if only for 1 sec) and turn on again, computer boots into Windows OK. I've managed to identify the problem is related to my 300GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10. If I disconnect it from the Serial ATA port, computer never hangs on POST (cold or warm boot). So far I don't know if this is a motherboard or hard disk issue.

- Computer hangs on loading Windows XP boot logo. This appears to be a video problem. After installing the NVIDIA GeForce driver (tried both 61.76 (WHQL) and 61.77 (non-WHQL), the computer will hang upon loading the WinXP boot logo.

Have you had any such problems?

Thanks!

Gustavo

Official word is here:

Coming, but not anytime soon from the sound of it.

Well crap. My kid needs my current computer for school which is why I was going to build a new machine. I want the nvidia chipset, so I guess I have to go to MSI although I really wished the DFI 939 was out.

Finally solved my problem by switching 2nd hard drive to SATA 3 instead of SATA 2 and enabling SATA DMA transfer in Bios. No more startup freezes and perfectly stable so far (has run Prime95 torture test for a full night without any errors).
