Sacramento people

I'm moving out to sac tommorrow for work, and I don't know what kind of cable/phone/broadband carriers are out there, and which ones are good. Anyone have recommendations on good companies to use? I'm using comcast here in maryland, and its working fairly well. Is comcast the only thing out there? Oh, and I have cingular for my cell now, how's the coverage in & around the city? thx in advance.

I live in davis, only broadband I have avail in my area of Davis is SBC DSL. Works great so far.

definitely check surewest first and see if they are running lines in your neighborhood (they dont have the whole of sac city wired yet)

These damn companies need to come to davis. They know should us college students are crazy for broadband. Of course, we're also poor and the ones who would buy it will probably abuse.

I have had em for almost 2 years and they are pretty good when it comes to customer service, I recommend them for the broadband but not the cell phone service, their coverage areas are very poor.

MetroPCS is cheap and good for cell phone services.

Yea, we need to know where exactly you live. I lived in Natomas for awhile and got the surewest and sure was nice If you come close to their 40GB/month limit (combined upload and download), they'll send you a letter. OTher than that, no problems. Was late on a bill once by 2 months and they canceled my service, but I paid it and they turned it on, w/o charging me anything!

that surewest looks awesome, although it says "Up to 40 Gigabytes of unidirectional throughput monthly, calculated on inbound or outbound usage, whichever is higher." That kinda sucks... I'm sure there will be months when i go past the 40Gb download limit, any idea on what the overage charges are like?

Sorry to bump this old thread. If you want to be a Kings fan, then get Comcast. They just signed a deal and will show every Kings game not already on a network channel for the next 10 years!

You'll find Sacramento residents, men and women, LOVE the Kings. Playoff time gets really exciting around the county where every other store has a banner up and people are talking about them in checkout lines.
