Yes, finally decided to 'recycle' some parts my geeky side didn't want to part with

Including:

[*]my last AT computer cases
[*]my last VL-bus motherboard
[*]Pentium Pro system
[*]Dual Pentium Pro system
[*]all but one of my AT keyboards (just in case!)

How many of you are even old enough to know what a VL-bus mobo is?

---

You "threw away" old computer parts JC? :Q

I should permaban you ASAP!

I still have all my old computer stuff, including a 386-40MHz server board with sixteen 30-pin SIMM slots, some 486 and original Pentium boards, a dual PPro board that I had been wanting to buy a matched pair of CPUs for, and other junk.. lol

I think the oldest components we have at our house is an 8mb HDD (don't know if it works) and a Pentium II machine with a 32mb gfx card.

I remember what a nightmare it was to get a 1X CD-ROM working in Windows 3.1

VLB? Diamond Stealth64 w/2MB DRAM cost $399 in 1994. Ran in AMD 486DX4/120.

I had a 286/25 with a CSC fastcache (ISA) SCSI board with 8MB and a pair of Hitachi SCSI drives (155MB) and it loaded WP 5.1 for DOS faster than the 486/33 with 8MB RAM running PC Kwik and a Maxtor 7213AT IDE drive.

I think I still have an ISA Turtle Beach Maui somewhere. Sam and Max GM music never sounded better. It was better than sound canvas and XG except for the percussion. The standard snare drum sounded as lively as a mushroom.

My question is why not toss it sooner?

Was the nicd rtc battery all frosted up? My 386/486 boards rtc batteries leaked many moons ago. The 386 from a Zeos PC would reset the clock to 01/01/1980!

I got rid of the old stuff. The oldest hardware left is a Umax scanner, circa 1998, that is hooked to my PC and runs fine. I had to shell out a few bucks to get the XP driver for it though.

Oh, I do have some 30-pin SIMMS around...they don't take up much room, therefore they get to stay around longer

At my parents we have stashed away in the basement a PII 450 mhz, 128 mb RAM, 16 mb TNT gfx card.

man, that thing was screaming when we bought it.

I'm pretty sure my currect desktop still uses that soundcard, actually.

I have a Gateway Solo with a 366 Celeron, 64mb Ram, and a 6gb hard drive. I still use it for word processing duties and the occasional old game (runs Baldurs Gate quite well).

Recycle them. Computer hardware contains heavy metals that need to be disposed of properly.

And also, why would you not jut sell the AT keyboards?
