Saddest Movie Ever.

Requiem for a Dream is right. It's the singlemost disturbing and sad movie ever made. Either that, or I'm forgetting something.

Off the top of my head, I found The Thin Red Line to be pretty sad..

I cried at the end of Private Ryan and Braveheart, but the saddest movie for me is,

Philadelphia!

The movie that ALLWAYS gets me is "Legands of the fall"

I find myself getting all teary eyed in at least 3-4 places, and when the bear kills Pitt in the end its all over!

Hmmm . . . I guess I won't be seeing Grave of the Fireflies anytime soon. And I also wanted to second Old Yeller and Where the Red Fern Grows. Anytime a dog dies in a movie it just gets to me.

I was a history major in college and took a course on the Holocaust in film and literature. Schindler's List is a very good film, however there are plenty of other movies on that subject that are even more heart wrenching.

What about Sling Blade? That was one of the first big independent films to hit it big back in the early/mid90s. Even though I loved it and thought it was a fantastic movie (deserving whatever Oscars it got) it was EXTREMELY depressing.

I felt robbed at the end of Pay it forward, it felt like the whole struggle of the movie resulted in nothing at the end. I was pissed off at that movie!

Message in a bottle was one of the saddest. I didn't see KC's death coming.

I saw most of the films mentioned above.
But I have to second Grave of the Firelies
In many depressing movies, there are always slight moments of happiness or joy.
However, from the beginning to the end, i can not remember one single scene in Grave of the Firelies that was not depressing.
I swear i flooded the room with tears when i realized the sister will eventually die @ the end.

humm.....has no one mentioned Simon Birch? it's the only movie that i can honostly say made me shed massive tears. another one i liked was The Fox and the Hound.

Yes. I this is the one I mentioned before. But I would like to add one more thing.


This is perhaps the only movie that changed my life. Seriously, I now have a new perspective. And I have never even taken drugs, or even done much drinking.
