So all you middle class with only a 4 and 1/2 million dollar net worth, I feel your pain!

McCain is WAY out there, more than I ever feared.
I heard that and thought WTF...did i hear that right??? I mean is he really that out of touch at this point? At least obama was realistic with his $150k is middle class figure - even said in CA that might not work. I think he was a little low in declaring $250k "rich" as that is still in some places not exactly a high level but at least it was realistic.
but 5 million??? I really want to hear how limbaugh and hanity try to spin that one on monday...

from where McCain's sitting, I'm surprised 5 million dollars doesn't seem poor to him.

but Obama's the out of touch elitist...

I think McCain did OK. Better than I was expecting. But it did feel like he was campaigning while Obama was was having a conversation.

And did anyone else see the cut to Lindsey Graham looking almost teary-eyed saying "unbelievable" when McCain was answering why he wanted to be president?

Even if McCain answers questions better, the way he answered is all WAR WAR and WAR again. Why I want a war president? Are we always in war? (it seems for McCain) ... I am sick of this war talk...no wars...

I thought that McCain pulled this one off a little bit better than Obama. With that being said, it looks like were going to get screwed big time regardless of who wins the election. Is this the best this nation has to offer?

The guy revealed himself like a cross-dresser caught in his wife's closet. And it was just as creepy.

What figure divides the middle class and the rich? McCain said 5 MILLION DOLLARS! You're middle class if you only have four and a half million. Talk about an out of touch and elitist view! :|

I was in denial concerning the man, obviously.

I am no fan of abortion as a lazy, after the fact contraceptive, but there is a decided difference between that and the whack extremist fundametalist attempt to impose on our civil and criminal justice system the idea that at CONCEPTION, that union of a man's spermatozoa and a women's uterile egg has the same legal rights as you and I.

IT IS TRULY LEGISLATING FROM THE BENCH!!!!!!!!!!!! It is an expansion of the federal government into the private sphere of its citizens. It is the very thing McCain said he was against in his "posturing for the peanut gallery" answer. :|

McCain is an elitist ($4.9 million is middle class to him!), whack-primitive fundie who still confuses the Sunni and the Shia and most certainly seems to lack presidential temperament.

And he doesn't think YOU should be able to get married, as if that were the mother-fucking government's business.

Who's the big goverment radical here, eh?

McCain was far more direct with his answers telling you what he will and will not do.

Obama hemmed and hawed his way through trying to tiptoe on both sides of the issue.
leaving you with a vague feeling of what his actual answer was.

McCain has shown himself to be one who will put whats best for america in front of party affiliations. His rep as a maverick is well established.
Obama has shown himself to pretty much tow the party line.

That bipartisan effort is what america needs. not going on vacation and refusing to allow an important topic like energy to not even be voted upon. ala Pelosi.

I'm going to watch this again but, I thought he answered that "life" begins at conception. I must've missed the part about "legal rights" beginning at conception.

I also believe that Life begins at conception. I still believe that abortion should be legal. There are certain situations where I believe the choice needs to be there but I don't think it should be as another form of everyday contraception.

What was up with Obama's answer to the same question? "Answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade" Is this Obama's way of just voting "present" on the question? I think he was afraid to answer the question for fear of losing voters. I'd rather see a President who isn't afraid to say what he/she really believes.

From the first viewing, I saw Obama do a lot of talking and stuttering without really saying anything. McCain at least gave very direct answers. I think the average voter will see this as a win for McCain. I just wonder how many Dems are now wishing it was Senator Clinton vs Senator McCain tonight.

McCain - I'm going to tell "conservatives" what they what to hear.
Obama - I'm going to tell you that there aren't easy answers to everything.

(I'm not saying McCain is better than Obama on the gay rights issue, but strictly in terms of marriage, Obama doesn't score any points)

but my cousin and her girlfriend are getting married in 2 weeks and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Does anyone know where a transcript can be found? I watched most of McCain's and missed the early Obama part.

I didn't like Obama's answer about America's greatest moral failure.

Barack Obama, said America's greatest moral failure is its insufficient help to the disadvantaged, especially victims of racism, sexism and poverty.

John McCain says the nation's greatest moral shortcoming is its failure to "devote ourselves to causes greater than our self-interests."

I never heard Obama say specifically he was against gay marriage just that he believes its between a man & woman. From what he was saying it comes down to giving the same rights to gay couples that regular married couples have and he didn't seem to be against that - however he slinked back and said that the states should decide that. In other words he did his best to play every side of the issue without actually taking a solid stance. I agree didn't really score any points but i wouldn't say he lost any points either.

Yes. Are you unaware of what his answer means legally? It is part of the socially conservative effort to establish legal status for fetuses (feti?) as human beings, so as to completely delegitimize abortion of any kind, in any circumstances, including rape and incest.

When he answered "life" begins at conception, he wasn't doing so in any theoretical construct, but as your presumptive next President, who would enforce this (and appoint the next 2-3 Supreme Court justices on how they anwered this litmus test) as the law of the land, and NOT the private choice of the woman in whose body that fetus resided.

This extreme view would even outlaw the morning after pill. If you or your girlfriend took one, they would be liable for MURDER under our law, as that developing conglomeration of cells would be considered LIFE, i.e., a human being, and would even have the right to sue!

Can you imagine the basic cable channel law firm commericals then?

Yeah, lets turn over the American Republic to our home grown facist religious yahoos.

Watching McCain was funny.

"WHere have you split with your party?"

MCCAIN - On torture, on taxes, on spending.

Failed to mention he has changed his mind again and is now pro-torture.

He also invoked Beirut which was funny because that was a perfect allegory for NOT involving with Iraq.

He said we were losing in Iraq until Petraeus saved us! I don't remember him saying anything about losing previously.

The man had said he supported Roe v. Wade in 2000.

Were you watching the same forum? I heard plenty of handclaps from the audience for many of Obama's liberal policies.
