gigabyte 7vrx kt333 chipset, 512mb corsair CMX2700 CAS2 ram and athlonxp2100+

with some extra case fans and a good socket fan could i oc the 133mhz fsb to 166mhz?

the ram can keep up with it so if i provide proper heating it should be safe, right?

Not without unlocking the cpu and lowering the multiplier. There is no way the cpu will run 13 x 166 for 2160MHz.

Yes its safe if your stuff can handle it. Go up in 1 mhz increments after you hit 140 and run 3DMark or similar. If it doesnt lock up your fine. If it does lower it 1 MHz and your done till you find the issue. Too get too 2160, you'll probably need a peltier setup with water. You MAY be able to do it with just water but it's highly unlikely. But if you drop the multiplier to 12, you'll be pullin some crazy 3Dmark scores!

What he said. There are no problems with athlon running at 166 or even 200mhz FSB. They need to be unlocked first.

Yes, there definitely will be a performance difference between using a 166 fsb as to 133. That is why if you can or have someone unlock your cpu, then you should set it to 166 fsb.

that is what i have done with my unlocked cpu, and the performance and speed is really great!

Unlocking the XP's is not a dificult task. Just follow the instructions in Tom's Hardware and you will be fine.
