I just purchased this Geforce 4 TI4200 from Gainward(here's the exact name:GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra 700-8X XP Golden Sample Ti4200 8X AGP 128MB DDR 3D), and I'm wondering: Is it safe to overclock? I know the card's software itself enables the card to be overclocked from 250/513 to about 270/560(roughly).....what I"m wondering is if I use the Gainward software to overclock the card to 270/560(what it designates as "enhanced" mode), do I run any danger of frying or damaging the card? Help me out!

When overclocking it is best to go in small increments and test for stability with each step.

You should have no problems really with frying the card. If you overclock the thing too far your system will just hang. That said, it is still possible to shorten the life of a card by overclocking it. The main thing you want to look out for is to make sure your case and the card have plenty of air flow. If you have that and don't go too wild with your overclocking you should be fine.

Anytime you run a part at higher than spec speed you run the risk of shortening it's useful life if you also have higher than spec heat.
Take care of the heat by some mechanical means, and you could probably make the argument it's not harmful.

even if this card is supposedly "gold sample" and built for overclocking? What are the signs of overclocking too far?
What temperature should my computer run at(Motherboard temp and CPU temp)

One last thing: I was checking out the site that I ordered my GF4 TI4200 from(ewiz), and I found that the site is offering 3 different types of Gainward GF4 TI4200s, and I"m wondering which model is the one I got:
here's the link(u'll have to copy and paste, since I don't know how to insert a hyperlink)https://www.ewiz.com/query.php?categry=98&brand=Gainward

Go to the second page, and you'll see three GF4 TI4200-8x for sale
I dunno if it helps, but here's the manufacturer part number for each of them:
VG4TI4200-8X

VG4TI4208XN (the one that I got)

VG4TI42008XG

Can any of you peeps tell me which Gainward model card I purchased?(according to pricegrabber, i got a GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra 700-8X XP Golden Sample Ti4200 8X AGP 128MB DDR 3D, but I"m not so sure)
thanks a lot
