Theres an icon of an arrow and a hard drive and it says safely remove hardware... when i click it, it asks me to select to the device i want to unplug or eject. My hard drive is the only choice possible. Why is this icon there and how do i turn it off? It wont go away.

I have this same thing since my rebuild last weekend and would like to know how to turn it off. It really isn't anything too annoying but still. I have a 160 gig sata on my # 1 sata connector on the A8N-E board. I assume the task tray icon just means my drive is hot swapable. On my old A8V Deluxe I only would get this "safe to remove drive" task tray icon if I plugged in my external 2.5 inch mobile drive. WHAT GIVES?

You are probably using SATA-II drives and/or ports. SATA-II is hot swapable, hence the icon.

I guess that is a good thing? I didn't have this on my other board and I believe my seagate 7200.7 is sata1. Oh well not a big deal, when I press the icon is says cannot diconnect because it is in use. SORRY for the highjack

AFAIK, the only way to get rid of it is to set it to "Always Hide". Right clcik Taskbar --> Properties --> go to "Hide inactive icons" --> Customize.

I have this on my computer when my printer is on. My printer is a photo printer with a card reader in it. It recognizes it as another drive.

I also get it when I am using my game pad.

Don't know if this helps or not
