Steam has Everything Saint's Row free for the weekend, and 80% off until Monday

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/46504/

$10.99 total for ultimate pack.

I never played these games before, but finally jumped on this pack yesterday after downloading and playing #2 for a few hours.

Pretty good sandbox game, but I feel like #2 doesn't have much teeth--just complete missions as you have enough respect, and complete tasks so that you can build rep, until the game ends. Most of the game is based around capturing territory on the map, which was only a small part of the game in GTA: San Andreas.

Should I just blow through this one to move onto 3?
3 and 4 seemed more substantial in the reviews and videos that I had seen in the past

Also, Gamestop has the Steam version of the new DLC (Gat out of Hell) for $4.99.

Zin I never played 1 or 2, but from what I understand 3 and 4 completely change the direction of the game for the better. Over the top, humorous, not serious at all version of GTA.

yeah, watching videos, it is all about aliens or something, and I think you actually have powers.

2 is just a reskinned with GTA that is rather thin on story and combat in comparison. Still, it's pretty fun and the combat is actually solid for this type of game.

I think the first time I was aware of these, was watching Robbaz in the character creation and prologue of SR 3. Pretty hilarious.

OK, I have to look at that DLC I guess. I think I'm going to enjoy these anyway, but I wonder if I have already downloaded way too much content for me to comprehend.

EDIT: just watched video of his lazy boy rocket launcher weapon.

downloading now. (rather--purchased. DL when available)

Coo, I'll have to get part 4 now. Really enjoyed the ridiculousness of the 3rd one.

Hey thanks, OP. Although I have SR3 in my library, the bundle seems like a good deal. Not sure how much I'll play but I do get enjoyment out of watching other people play on Youtube.

I bought 2 and didnt like it.
Playing 4 on the free weekend. Its ok, but I dont think I will purchase it. Controls are too messy and these tower jump missions are a pain.

I do like the outfits though. I picked the Cardinal with a Gimp mask.

SR IV is hilarious. I'm generally not up for sandbox games, but the crazy theme in SR IV was a blast.

2 will always be the best. 3 and especially 4 are just spastic. Which is saying something with this game. It should have stayed a GTA knockoff not what it is now. No 1 should be ported over.

Just tried buying it and got an message that they had a problem with my order and I need to call their 1-800 number. Will try once more. If it doesn't work, I'll wait until it goes on sale.

edit: paid with cc instead of paypal, and it went through. Thanks Impulse!

Saints row IV is the weakest in the series. Its the exact same city as saints row 3 with just different colours used throughout. The super powers become boring but also render weapons and cars pretty useless throughout the game. A huge change in direction, I enjoyed SR3 a lot, but this one just went too over the top.

I have been having difficulties enjoying IV. To me it seems empty compared to 3, although the Super Powers are kinda neat, I just don't feel connected to the Story. Not that 3 had much of a Story, for that 2 wins. Speaking of which, 2 is my favourite, although when I first played it years ago the PC version ran like crap on my X2 3800, especially Driving. The Tagging mini-game in 2 was super annoying in 2 as well.

I recommend the series if one hasn't played it, especially at this price. It's all just good fun with plenty of things to mess around with.

Keep going, it gets better as you unlock new abilities and access the ship.

Normally I dont care when a game lets me customize my body or my wardrobe, but this time I'm actually having fun.
Stuck with a Cardinal robe, bald head, dark glasses, and stole a Lincoln. Turned it all black with a little bit of neon.
Good times.
