*Furiously clicks around! Hits the back button.*

Edit: Ah you just edited it.

Edit: I got a reconditioned keyboard back from Saitek when I RMAed mine as it went wakco.
The reconditioned keyboard only had 1 screw screwed in and the rest were laying around the box. Kind of annoying, but after screwing them back in the keyboard worked.
I then noticed the blue hue from the backlight was a brighter blue and not the darker blue of my previous keyboard. I don't like the new blue color, would've preferred the darker cooling looking blue. My friend got the brighter blue color when he bought his new so I don't know what is the deal with the darker blue. Also had to pay for the shipping costs to ship to them.

I've heard good things about these keyboards. But from anyone who has actually used or owns one, what is soo good about them?

i am typing on one right now. Its a great keyboard because it feels soft when you are typing. I would rather have the new saitek eclipse, however, because i wish it had media controls other than volume up and down

silly question but I cannot tell, is it wireless or not? If not, how long is the wire that connects it, does anyone know?

The wire is probably five or six feet long. USB standards specify for lengths up to 16 feet if you buy a Male A to Female A extension.

Three months after owning this the paint starts to scrape off. Evey key is clear and they apply paint to it. So the character is a lack of paint on the clear key which allows light to shine through. Mine now has a pretty shabby looking home row, especially WASD. If this keyboard were wireless it would eat extra batteries to power the LEDs! Also it is marketed for gamers, not home theater. Gaming with wireless human interface devices is just plain ignorant. You get inferior performance and higher latency, and the chance of the batteries dying during a match. But sitting across the TV on your couch editing your play lists is another thing.

Not when you don't have enough space on your desk for other things. When I snack at my computer desk or if I just need some room for reading/writing, I'd like to take the keyboard and place it on the floor/against the wall or anywhere else.
Batteries should not be a problem if the keyboard can be recharged. And I have not noticed any sort of latency while gaming with my MX1000.

Batteries would be an issue because this is a backlighted keyboard.

I use one of these currently, and after lots of keyboard shopping, I liked the keystroke feel and build of this keyboard better than anything else I could find at common B&M places. Much nicer than Dell oem, Microsoft, Lite-on. Had held up alot better for me than Logitech boards, which I liked, but never lasted well. The keyswitches seem very robust and it takes a beating.

The lighting is also very nice...

BUT, I've got a ton of money saying that these refurbs are all returns that came back because of paint wear on the keys.

I'm not sure how people wear the paint off in 3 months, but mines about 2 years old now and there are definite wear areas on the arrow keys and WSAD. I don't need to see them but it is a problem, no less.

Other than that flaw they are really wonderful keyboards.

I'm running one right now and it is pure bliss. Lights make for great midnight gaming, clear and stylish. I don't use the gamepad much, but I did test it out and it seemed to work. Quality keyboard, I have had it for over a year and nothing is wiggly or loose.

its not clear if the eclipse comes with the gamepad? they have a similar looking reconditioned keyboard on their site with the pad, but it also doesnt state if its an eclipse?

The gaming keybaod and the Eclipse are two sepaate models. The Eclipse has no gamepad but lighted keys while the Gamer is backlit but you cannot see that letters/symbols illuminated.

The four buttons above the numberpad are volume up/down/mute and light adjustment.

No other special buttons but volume is there.

Well,
I just got mine, typing on it right now. That was Fast! Anyhow it was in full retail packaging and is it sweet Even if this sucker didnt glow it is one nice keyboard. Hard keys (Unlike some of the gumby feeling illuminated boards) and great response.

I cant wait till it gets dark
