Are only the areas around the keys back-lit, or are the button letters also back-lit?

The backlight comes from a panel underneath the keys, y ou can't see the letters themselves because the individual keys are not backlit.

The feel of this keyboard is incredible. I immediately think "cheap" when I type on something else. I didn't like the seperate pad though - compared to my Nostromo it's boring. The wrist-wrest on this keyboard does not match the keyboard's quality feel - I'll be buying something else, a gel pack or something, soon.

FYI this is about the same price at Best Buy. $44.99...wasn't labeled at a couple (I've bought two, one for me and then one for my bro for his bday).

It rocks...very nice keyboard. Very long (wide) though! Make sure it fits your desk!

No, letters do not light up. Just the "background" which is to say the area under the keys that gets full of crap.

You can turn it off, have it on bright, or have it medium...it has an option.

remember - this is only $44.99 at Best Buy!!!

Does this keyboard feel better than a logitech elite?

my elite's keys are pretty sticky, so I have to press them kinda harder than I use to.

either gonna buy a new one or get something better

dang that's a big space bar!

I'd be all over this but the separate numberic keypad does not have the /*-+enter keys. What's with that? Always map those when I am playing FPS.......

trikster2,

It's not a numeric keypad.

It's a "command pad". It has 9 buttons, and 2 shift mode buttons.

Here's a link to show you what it is, up close.

The keyboard has the standard numeric keypad on it.

Here's a link to show you that, up close.

Here's what the keyboard looks like in the dark. (*No, the keys themselves are not lit, it's the space AROUND each key that is.)

P.S. I don't get the link posting function on this forum.

Does the oversized black palm rest come off? Any media buttons for volume and mute?

I'm still using the Lifetime Keytronics keyboard I purchased over 8 years ago. They have replaced it twice without question even though once was because I dumped coffee on it. I know keyboards aren't that expensive but once you get use to one it's hard to switch!

I'm looking for reviews that may answer this question, but in the meantime....

What is the interface for the macro programming, and how big a macro can we put in? As many steps/keys as we want? Does it support key combinations (e.g., CTRL + 1)? Can we program in a pause between keypresses? If so, I might consider buying this to make MMORPGing easier on my lazy ass.....

The older Keytronics are really nice, especially the tactile feedback. Keytronics made a lot of the older model IBM keyboards that were really nice also. I still have one of the old IBM loud clickity-clack keyboards from my early Data Center days.

The feature of this keyboard that is supposed to set it apart from others is the satellite pad. It's not a number pad, but a programmable 9-key keypad with 2 shift states. So, you can program up to 27 commands to be assigned to the buttons on this keypad. I'm not sure if you are able to assign complex macros to the buttons (such CTRL-H, then 1, then wait 10 seconds, then ENTER) like you can the Nostromo (which is a nice device, btw), but in any event, programmable buttons can be really, really nice when used for game-playing. It allows you to take all the frequently used keys and assign them in such a way that you never have to move your hand from the mouse and keypad.

That having been said, I really wanted one of these prior to hearing about driver issues with Win XP SP2. I'd hop on this deal if it weren't for the rumors I'd heard. In fact, I may hop on it anyway. I'd hate giving my money to Best Buy, or worse yet, having to deal with their CS people. Amazon and online stores are generally much nicer to deal with.

ANybody have any info on the driver issues?
