Salvage Data Recovery Labs-anyone know this?

i have been having trouble with a dead harddrive which was not recognized by any of my pc's. I downloaded this trial software from the company listed in the title and it actually brought up all of my files. The only problem is their terms are really kind of harsh. A 175 dollars to activate and that is only good for 30 days after which you have to subscribe on a yearly basis. Does anyone know of this company. The software does work and some of the others I tried did not.

Yeah, that's the one...but I looked in my other pc and had a program called file scavenger that did the trick for nothing. Looks like my disc was corrupted or something...it is retrieving as we speak. That company though has very nasty terms.

there are several data recover software options that are a lot less that
that :shocked: spin right and get data back are both highly rated and worth a try if the need arises again.

I ran into a similar problem a few months back, and when I searched these forums, saw good things being said about Getdataback. It appears taht the hd is not completely dead and some, if not all data, may be recoverable. If thats the case, and you are not prepared to spend a great deal of money, I would suggest Getdataback from www.runtime.org for $79. It too first looks to see what can be recovered, and once it can see what it can recover, then you go ahead and buy a license. There are quite a few other programs in the same price range.

I've heard DriveSavers are good. I'm not sure on their prices, though.

Well as I said, I used File Scavenger, which quidkly got back my whole drive and only cost $49. I highly recommend it. I was able to reformat the drive after saving all the data and it seems to be working fine. What could have caused the failure?

The MBR could have been corrupted.

Likely a few sector corruption at the beginning of the drive.
