Salvaging laptop parts

A laptop was graciously given to me recently, unfortunately it does not work.. I am pretty sure the mobo is dead. So what did I do--being the techy that I am -- I took the laptop apart wanting to salvage some parts. Too bad laptops use proprietary parts. So are there any parts I can use with my PC? I am especially wanting the LCD screen. Could I rig up something to make it work? I already took out the heatsink and am going to use that. What about the Pentium processor, anybody know if it is a different format than the desktop counterpart?

Send it to me so I can try to fix it. Salvaged..

You could try Eb@y'ing it.. or the FS/FT forum. Finding another lappy like it with something unrelated busted, like the LCD, will give you enough parts to fix it.

hmmm... the only thing is that I don't know FOR SURE that the other parts work. I am pretty positive that they do and that the mother board is the problem but I have no way of testing. Is there any kind of converter cables that go from the LCD plug to VGA? I know there are cards that you can put into your PC which will support PCMCIA's.

With a $4.00 adapter you could use the hard disk in a desktop. You could probably sell the memory, HD, screen, keyboard, and any drives on e.bay.

I don't think you can adapt a laptop LCD screen to a normal PC output very easily, if at all..

All latop screens use proprietry vga connectors and I doubt if you could make a custom connector let alone buy one I am afraid Best to sell it for parts or grab a nother broken one off an auction site to get it running.
