I know someone who formed a "company" out of a few guys at work and made a business membership perhaps anandtech can start a business membership and you divide it and it comes out a lot cheaper. I mean annadtech is a business and we might as well work here helping each other out posting responses.

Sounds good to me. I have a BJ membership and have always wanted to check out a Sam's club.

Why don't you just pay the $45 a year? It's well worth it. What you are attempting to do goes beyond cheap.

I see no real advantage to being a buisness member, you get the same deals with regular membership and they allways have the 100% satisfation deal in regards to membership fee's

Actually, the business membership allows one to not pay the 5% upcharge regular members get tacked onto the price of items.

What is this upcharge fee? I am a member and have never seen an upcharge fee.

Many years ago there was a 5% upcharge (meaning if you were not a business member you paid an additional 5% over the listed price) and the only way to avoid it was to become a business member. That changed at least four or five years ago. Probably longer, but I have been a business member since 1987. Now days all memberships are the same. The fees may vary slighty but the price paid for an item at Sam's Club is the same for everyone.
One advantage to a business membership is that at many Clubs they have special hours where you have to be a business member to get in. Usually these are in the mornings.

Samsclub used to have an alternate membership deal for no annual fee but 5% tacked on all purchases. Thats been long gone tho.

Actually, this is not completely true. You would need to receive a special flyer in the mail with this offering from Sam's Club to try their store out. Just walking into Sam's Club will not allow you to purchase items and pay an additional 5% over the member's price anymore. I tried this option about a year ago before purchasing a membership.
