As CEO she has accountability to promote diversity within her own organization, not carte blanche to criticize the hiring choices of entirely different companies. That would be akin to me criticizing her for marrying a black man rather than a white woman because of diversity reasons. If she wants to make the business decision to base supplier decisions on their workforce diversity rather than economic concerns and face the resulting shareholder opinion then fine, but otherwise it's not her place.

Well yeah, plus - She doesn't want "diversity", she wants to see qualified black people.

Diversity isn't about ACTUALLY BEING diverse. It's about "we want more of our people". There is a distinct difference. Ask Asian's how fun it is getting denied to Colleges even with amazing academic credentials.

as a white male i couldn't care less about this. i think the whole "hire who is the qualified color not qualified skill wise" mentality this country has just to be diverse is dumb as shit.

Or the best qualified at the time of hiring were white? Nobody knows but them. The best person for the job should be hired no matter what race or sex. Her comments were racist.

It's DEFINITELY not that white people make up a VERY LARGE MAJORITY in college enrollments/graduations. Or that business schools often have more males than females.

imagine if the nfl hired running backs based on skin color and had to hire white running backs. or if they had to hire black kickers. the rooney rule alone is already fucking retarded.

All she says is that she would like to see more women. By specifically mentioning that she only sees Caucasian males, is a bit short sighted of her and is the cause of the uproar.

That she prefers a diverse group of people in her company is her good right if she means that she wants to give everyone an equal chance. However, if she would for example refuse a Caucasian male with the right skill set, based on his ethnic background, then she is performing an act of racism. And can be sued. You do not know if that actually happened. Clearly it did not because she has white males under contract.

Generally, a company should hire based on the skill set an employee has. Other wise, it would not be fair for the other employees. Work hard, get passed by because you fit the majority or because you do not have the ethnic background desired. That is discrimination.

There is a reason people go on job interviews and that people have a probation period at the new job. If applied correctly, the wrong gets sifted from the right, regardless ethnic background.

I'm also pretty sure that if I said there weren't any men for me to speak to at the company, I would be sued. Yet there she is, blabbering on that there weren't any women for her to speak to at that company.

What she's also missing is that in certain areas/states, it's almost all white. Like UTAH has a huge majority of whites and hence the best qualified are probably going to be mostly white - there is simply a much larger pool of whites that will apply due to spatial location to the work site. Just as a management team in Detroit will probably not be majority white. To not take into account demographics shows she's a fucking moron.

She's actually not a bigot or a racist, she's a sockpuppet.

The management at the store level of Sam's Club, not the 10-15 people that make up the C-suite executive level of her building, is very much white male, usually in the store its also segregated, the black girls are usually cashiers, white girls work center folding clothes, and the guys work the perimeter doing grocery, tire and battery, etc.

I'd have maybe been outraged if this was actually true, but its just a talking point.

I understand what you are trying to say, hence that i wrote about the in IMHO short sighted comment she made. You would think that someone in her position would choose her words more carefully. Then again, she had an interview and everything she said is not mentioned except this sensitive comment about a nonsense matter. It is after all sensational news.
