SAM's WD20.5HD--How to get if not a member!!

Okay pimpdadee here da low down, ya dig?

I will now release my secret on purchasing items from sams without being a member!! Only because Y'all freeks gave me the heads up on that D-Link MP3 Player STEAL!!!


1. Goto WALLMART and ask to purchase a WALLMART/SAMS gift card

2. The minimum amount to put on the card is $5 bux

3. Walk into sams and purchase anything you like!!!

Good idea BUT....

The mail-in rebate for Sam's Club requires you to put down your/a membership number. Just a heads up.

This is a great deal. Too bad those having a problem PM'ing at Staples couldn't use it as ammunition. I guess quite a few of my friends will be getting Sam's GC's..hee hee. Are we sure they don't add a surcharge though for non members?

edit..Oh bummer, that is right..you do have to put a membership number on that rebate form. But this idea will still come in handy

To anyone who has done this, what does your receipt say under member number? Maybe there is a guest number that would work. I haven't done much research on this but it looks like the same place that does walgreens rebates also does Sam's. The guest number might work. You could try it on something cheap to see if it does work. Buy some food item with rebate and give it a try.

I bought the drive and i have the receipt so that i can fax it over to the CSR at staples. luckily for me i know of a couple people that have these memberships so i could still get the 40 off!! but even if you dont you can still get 30 back from WD!

Oh yeah, there is NO surcharge or anything. I shop there all the time. Actually the 30 or 40 bux they charge for a membership isnt bad cuz they have tons of rebates each month.hmm......

Syber, the problem with your set up is that Sam's is only going to do one rebate so if your friends want to get it you are screwed.

I like the idea of the Sam's gift card from WalMart because then it might be possible for anyone to get a rebate without membership. I will probably do this on a test run on something cheap to see how it works.

btw, people don't forget that a business membership is cheaper. I think mine was ten bucks cheaper. I don't know how much additional memberships are for your business members or if you get different membership numbers for the people so that they can get rebates too

......good to know. The regular membership *forces* you to have an extra membership for a qualified adult family member--whether that applies or not.

Db, What do you mean. I am not a Sams Expert. I just blew in the door to get the free Cannon printers last month because Staples didnt carry it to price match.

Do you mean the 35 is really 25 plus 10 for another member even if you are single and live alone or what?

I just called a local Sam's to ask about this card dealie. They said that you still have to be a member. Do you just walk in like BJs or do they check your membership at the door like Costco?

My Sam's wants to see your membership at the door (which I hate when anyone is with me because my picture looks like crap) and they have a security guard at hand all the time in the near vicinity.
Otto did you ask what would happen if you had a Sam's gift card as a present from walMart..would they honor it without a membership? I am still going to try it just to see what happens because someone here has been successful with it.

For the Sam's here in Little Rock, they just check to see if you have *A* card when you walk in - never have had it looked at closely. But realize that you still need one when you checkout. I had a co-worker here borrow a friend's card (the pic was really bad though) &amp; got the HD no problem.

Yeah...I specifically asked saying, &quot;I got this card as a gift and wanted to see if I could use it at Sam's even though I'm not a member.&quot; They gave me the big NO. I really pressed it, too. After I called three different Sam's, but none of them would budge, not even the one in the 'stupid hick, redneck' neighborhood.

then you tell them you received it as a gift and they let you in, come on i shop there all the time.......

Plain and simple, you just got lucky. Just like the Staples people (as Staple's PM policy says it excludes computer hardware, software).

You are mistaken about Staples price match policy. It most certainly does include computer hardware and software.

The one idea for using the gift card is that Sam's won't take any other credit card than their own or Discover. If you don't have those cards you can charge this gift card at Wal Mart on another card and then use it.

I will give Syber's idea a try. Thanks for posting it.
The one thing I would like for someone to post if they purchase this way is the information as to what they put under membership number on the receipt. I am trying to figure out how you could use this for rebates.
