Yeah same here... These latest 2 1TB drives put me @ 8 F3 1TB drives. Not including the 2 1/2 TB Seagate NS drives they are replacing... as for boot drives... I don't even know... then the PATA drives.. :hmm:

Heh, and I thought I was storage crazy.

I'm at a 640, 3 1TB's, 1 external 1TB, 1 external 750GB, a 320 and 400 that i swap in and out of a dock.

All of my 1TB's are Samsungs. Been a loyal fanboy since the Spinpoints debuted, and while I have used others, I always come back to old faithful

I bought a 2TB Spinpoint awhile back and it's been pretty good to me so far. I'd probably stick with 2TB drives though. I can't see much of a reason to "go cheap" on storage when going from 1TB to 2TB isn't really that expensive anymore. Only thing is, I can't imagine me needing tons of space and storage requirements per type are so varied. For 'x type' of item, I'd need 3TB but for 'y type' I only need 500MB. It becomes quite a conundrum.

I'd also like to start working with back ups, so I guess I'll need to consider getting a separate drive for those and some good software!

For the price of that 2TB F3EG you can get two 1TB F3s and put them in a 2TB RAID-0 and have even further performance gains. The hard drive is the slowest thing in a modern system. No reason to keep it slow.

There is such a thing as, just fast enough. You don't need super speed for a bunch of .mkv or .avi files.

The 5400 rpm drives also typically have higher reliability stats.

Here's what I was getting when I was transfering my games back to the array from a single 1TB SpinPoint F1 and a single 1.5TB Seagate 7200.11 at the same time. The read performance on both single drives seemed to be maxed.
