I'm actually kind of disappointed at the monitor that I received from dell (during the 20% off deal).

I'm experiencing some buzzing noise. I'm running at 1024x768 and 85hz. I've changed the refresh rate down to 75 which made it slightly better. The odd thing (well, not really too odd) is that the buzzing changes volume and pitch dependin on what is on the screen at the moment (if i open up telnet, the sucker gets loud...darker colors seem to be better).

I'm using the cables that they send me and the drivers that they put on the disk.....anyone have any idea?

Sorry to hear about your problem. There are a number of things that can cause a whiny high-pitched sound. It is almost always due to vibration of a component in the horizontal circuits, most often the flyback transformer or horizontal output transformer. This explains why the sound changes when different colors are on the screen. A white screen draws maximum current.

Bottom line is monitors should be seen not heard I would return the unit.

Good Luck

Hi Gosharkss.
I have read that you should connect your monitor to a grounded powerjack. I don't have that so I wonder if it can damage my monitor in any way?

I recommend all electric equipment use a grounded three terminal connection, more for your safety than the monitor. Odds are the monitor will be fine, however the monitor can be replaced you cannot be.

I have read that using a grounded one makes the monitor radiate less (tco99 and that stuff). Is this true?

True! The chassis ground is used for shielding radio frequency emmissions. If the monitor is not interfering with your TV or radio its no big deal.

More important it is used to bleed off static electricity

My 4 year old 17" Dell trinitron is starting to buzz (randomly) at 100 HZ 1024 res. I pushed it down to 85 HZ and no buzz at all...I'm looking into a new 19" mointor.

I bought a 21" Dell during the 20% off deal. The text was not very sharp at all compared to any other monitor I've own [even 'crappy cheap' ones]. I returned it and upgraded everything in my PC except the monitor...I need to find a good 19" monitor for 2D WINDOWS TEXT/Graphics, and mostly almost any monitor I've used in 3D is great though...
