Can't find anything about 900s on either the Samsung site or Google, but: the picture used by Micro Center is the same as the one of 950b on Samsung's site. The 950b is NOT a flat screen model as opposed to the 955df.

Yep there is a 900s though I haven't heard about it in a while. It should be a non-flat screen tube. The S stands for short neck tube. It is supposed to be not much deeper than a standard 17" tube. I've heard solid reviews of it. But if you are looking for a flat screen your gonna have to pass. Not a bad deal.

Well, I checked the Samsung SUPPORT page here Samsung Manuals
and did not find a "900S" listed anywhere, but there is a "900SL" which looks exactly like the picture in the Microcentre add.
This Monitor also looks exactly like my 950P model and I have had it for almost a year and love it, sure its not flat but this one beats out the 955DF because it can do 75hz at 1600x1200 which the DF model can not do. Plus the reviews on the 950P were better for the color etc then the DF have gotten. Im headed down to Microcentre in Fairfax, VA to get two of these if they have them. Oh the only difference in My 950P and this 900SL that I can see after reviewing the manuals is the buttons on this one are on the face bezel where as on my 950P they are in the hidden Ninja pop open plate
This is the BEST 19" monitor in this price range that you can buy hands down if it turns out to be the actual 900SL and not the new 900B which I don't think is that great.
If I get down there today or tomorrow and snag em, I will come back here and let ya know. Great find by the way since I am building two new systems and was almost ready to buy two of the DF models since I couldnt find any 950p's, but these should do fine!

<EDIT> Well I just called Microcentre in Fairfax, VA and they have 20 in stock...the guy on the phone said it shows up in the computer as Model number 900SM? Now I am confused, he said it didnt list the specs...but I am just assuming that the SM is just a later model number than the SL and the specs of 1600x1200 at 75hz apply to this monitor...anyone confirm the specs on this before I make the hour trip?
<EDIT>OK, I am waiting now till someone confirms model, cause Samsung changed to a different tube shortly after the 950P's were discontinued but not sure when, for instance, if the model being sold at Microcentre is the same tube as the 950B then it's useless for 1600x1200 since it caps out at 68hz and would kill your eyes over time...so If anyone has been into the store and checked the actual model number and specs at 1600x1200 it would be appreciated....if its really like the 950B then save your money and get the 955DF when the rebates pop up or the price is lowered shortly do to new samsung models.

Darn, I was afraid of that...oh well this is only a so so deal now since I play all games at 1600x1200. Also I would opt for the DF over this model...same specs roughly plus the DF is Flat Screen.

BTW, they also have several "Samtron" models. They looked vaguely like Samsung stuff, so I did a whois on the Samtron website, and it is owned by Samsung just as I suspected.

Anybody know anything about these? They have flat screens, and are only slighly more expensive than that 900S.

I guess if you have a GF4, playing games at 1600x1200 with at least 75 Hz refresh would be nice.

However, the ideal resolution for a 19" CRT is 1152x864 so don't let the monitor bandwidth disappoint you. Higher resolutions are definitely possible, but my impression is that current operating system GUI environments cannot properly resize widgets and text for those ultra-high resolutions. Anyone care to correct me on that? (I'm curious how UXGA+ LCDs work for peeps).

picked one up at sams club for 179, quality is averge, its clear, color is good, lots of controls so you can really screw up the picture. Doesnt lose focus in the corners. i'd say its a nice cheap monitor. I also looked at the Samtrons and they do have a nice flat screen, very vivid. The one they had on display was all messed up in its picture adjustment/alignment, i did a recall and it didnt get any better. I tried to re align but couldnt get it done so i shy'd away.
Going back to the 900s (an it is a 900s not 900sl) Whats ups with switching to different apps. and having the picture go out of alignment? Is this inherent of a cheap monitor?
