Samsung 215TW Monitor @ OfficeDepot $299 after rebate (Looks like it may be over))

Supposedly they are discontinuing the 215TW
I ordered this today. I will hopefully pick it up in a day or two.

To be able to see it at the OD website you need to find or have a local store. Follow these instructions:
1. View cart
2. choose the pickup button just above the empty cart
3. Input a zipcode and choose an Office Depot nearest you.
4. put Sku# 585023 into the search. If there is one at that store it will show up and be in red text (discontinued I think) without any pictures.
5. You can then purchase it and do a local pickup.

OD Seems to have gotten rid of all their inventory and removed the product from the shelves. This isn't confirmed, but most people can't find one and even the "hole in the wall" OD's no longer have the 215TW in stock (not even display models). YMMV though.

Yeah, I called too. The guy was a jerk at the store and acted like it was a big pain to even answer a few questions (do you have one in stock?). But it was worth it for the price. They only had one left at the store by me and the other store by me was out. Forgot to mention tax adds $30 dollars to bring it to ~$330. Haven't had a chance to pick it up yet as i don't have a DL due to epilepsy. Hopefully today.

My local Office Depot stores never have any of the hot clearance items but I tried anyway ...got one. I can live without the extra USB ports on my old monitor but I really would like to hook up the speakers. Did I miss something or do I have to find a speaker cable somewhere -- I can't find one in the box.

Okay, I picked up a mini-jack cable from Radio Shack (for $500 MSRP, you'd think that they could have put one in the box) and now we're in business. The quality of the speakers isn't as good as my old Dell 1905FP but they will do.

Using the web site was a waste of time. Mine said 0 stock too but they had 3 at the store. If you want one, go get it.

For those that already have this monitor, have you had any problems with it? Ive read quite a few reviews stating that red or blue vertical lines show up when the monitor is in use for more than 5 hours, or just even after a few days of use. I picked this monitor up despite some of the reviews, and am hoping that i do not run into any of these problems.

I am wondering the same thing. I have seen a 215TW on display at Frys that had a blue line running vertically down the screen, and there was a thread about it a few weeks ago, Text. Looking at some of the Newegg reviews, it looks like more than a few people were having the same issue. I wonder if it has anything to do with the reason it is being discontinued.

Circuit City was also clearing them out a couple of weeks ago, but not at as good a price as this.

Also picked one up today...hooked it up as soon as I got home....

Multiple red blue and red lines running vertically down the screen. Some a few pixels wide. I think I may have got a repack, because it looks like there's two layers of tape on the box, like someone resealed it. Everything was packed like new.

I plan on exchanging it tomorrow...but I'm a little paranoid now.

I'm still going to try to get one on my lunch break today. It has a 3 year warranty and Samsung has a pretty good reputation on exchanges, so I'll take my chances. It sounds like it was just a bad batch (April 2006 Mexico).

I was seriously considering getting the Dell 2007wfp, but this is cheaper and an inch bigger (which is good for me, I like the bigger text since it is the same resolution as the Dell 20"), not to mention the better color reproduction. One of the things holding me back was that I would rather buy it from a brick and mortar store in case there are any immediate issues.

If I can't get one at my local store then I might have to drive around on a "treasure hunt" at the other Office Depot stores in my area (which is not something that I normally do).

Who cares what the web site says? The shelf tag at my store said $499 yesterday too. It rang up at $399 plus tax and the $100 rebate form printed with the receipt.

You don't have to do that. If they don't have it in-stock at the first store, ask someone to look it up in the regional inventory.

Did you actually call the stores? Trying to find out what is available through the web site is a complete waste of time on this.

By the way got reply form Samsung: "As of right now, Samsung doesn't have Magic Rotation/Magic Tune for Windows Vista."

I'm using this monitor with Vista as I type and it is beautiful. I'm not a gamer or graphical artist so I wouldn't know all the ins and outs of monitor tuning. The manual adjustments work though and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before a tuner for Vista will be available. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy what I have for all its worth.
