I hope so because I don't intend on hooking mine up to my computer. I plan to just drag and drop mp3's into my SM card reader and then just pop the card into my player. If it doesn't work this way, I need to cancel my order, so if anyone knows for sure, let me us (me) know.does anyone know, can you just copy mp3 files directly into any smartmedia card and drop it into this Yepp and it will play?? or does it have some lame DRM crap built in that requires you to load files using their software. i hate that crap.

Never mind, found it. Now, this thing better support 128 meg SM cards...
I recommend buying one or two 64 mb smartmedia cards. Why two? That way you can carry an extra hour (or two) of music on the extra card for longer jaunts. DO NOT TRY TO USE A 128 MB SMARTMEDIA CARD WITH THIS PLAYER; IT ONLY READS CARDS UP TO 64 MB. That little factoid should have been better advertised, as I ended up having to return the 128 mb card that I bought when I bought the player.

The file transfer program is slow. I use the Yepp Explorer from SamsungYepp.com and it takes long time to transfer files. My fix is that I get a ... Dazzle media reader and it work like a charm. A 20 MB batches of MP3 files took less than 1 minutes now to get into my SmartMedia. (however, make sure you use the player to format the SM media before use. If you use the Dazzle reader to format it, the MP3 player have problem reading it.) The Media reader also double as a quick removable drive for me... 32 or 64 MB data on a tiny little plastic, nice!
Yes, plus you don't have to worry about synching your pc with this player. Even if this player connects via a USB hub, I find that a USB SM card reader can still outperform digital cameras that have built in USB support. My guess is that it's the same for mp3 devices.would an external smart media reader transfer mp3s quicker?
Really? I hope that this isn't the case. I find that 128 is the best compromise between compression and quality. 96 sort of sucks if you ask me. Does anyone have a confirmation on this?by the way, someone left a review in the amazon point out this MP3 player accept 96khz not 128khz quality
I was about to, but you don't have your private messages enabled in your profile.can anyone tell me what is that 5 dollar off coupon?
The software also has cd ripping ability, but the sound quality is only at 96 kbps, not the greatest.
