I received my 4x4GB sticks yesterday; I've seen low-profile RAM before, but this is ridiculous! It barely sticks up above the white RAM-release levers on the socket! Anyway, I'm running it at the stock DDR3-1600. I have tried running it on AUTO and on fixed 1600. CPU-Z gives me the same readings. Is this normal? It really doesn't look right.

Could it have something to do with my weird motherboard (Asrock P67 Extreme 4 Rev B) not giving a true 100FSB? It reads like this with any RAM I've used in this board. I'm not overclocking anything. Everything is on AUTO.

In addition to what Sunny said, I'm on the same board and have no issues. But is your bios up to date?

If the system is fine, then don't bother updating, but if you find you cannot adjust the ram or something else, this might be worth doing.

In the bios I have my FSB set to 100 manually.

I understand that, thank you. What I've never seen before, until now, are the very odd/uneven JEDEC timings on the SPD Tab as shown in my screenshot. I wanted to know if anyone else experiences the same thing.

My BIOS is up to date (P3.10, April 24, 2012). The system is rock stable even with a mild OC to 4.0GHz, though I don't need it so I run it stock. I need to check and see if my FSB is on 100 or Auto. BRB.

*edit*
There's no more FSB...that's been replaced by BCLK, right? It's at 100. I have lived with this rig for about a year now; not a single hiccup. Just curious about what seem like odd SPD readings in CPU-Z.

They're fine. It's the low voltage of these and I believe they're coded for speeds to match those volts.

I believe I'm running much the same rig the same way, so I think we're in the clear!

oops, sorry about that...after i posted, the thought had crossed my mind that with 30k+ posts, i probably should have given you the benefit of the doubt. anyways yes, my SPD tab shows the strange clocks and the strange 1.28v across the board as well...

which one are you running? the 838MHz? and are you actually running only 1.28v?

I was a hardcore overclocker way back in the days when an extra 100MHz was a Very Big Deal. I'd stay up all night tweaking for that last stable 1MHz. No time for that now. Though I am tempted to fiddle around with this now. I've got the right CPU, right RAM and a Hyper 212 Evo on it. Hmm...

No prob, it's cool. Post count /= tech knowledge. Though I do know a thing or two in that dept. I"m glad to hear your SPD tab also shows much weirdness. I feel better now.

I'm actually running 1866 at 1.425 volts set manually. Timings are 9-9-9-24 2T. It actually switched from 1T to 2T when I put in my second set, so for the moment I'm not going to bother messing with it as it's running perfectly thus far and it might be psychosomatic, but there have been instances where it felt quicker.

I may still try to drop the voltage, but given that it's well within spec I don't see much reason to mess with it.

so i was on the egg this morning to order some case fans, and i thought i would just check to see if any of these 4GB or 8GB Samsung memory kits were back in stock. low and behold, the 4GB sticks were no longer showing as out of stock. so i threw 3 of them into my shopping cart, but when i went to the check out screen there was some sort of message to the effect that there wasn't enough inventory to fill my memory order. i changed my order to 2 sticks, but still no go. so i changed it yet again, this time to only 1 stick, and the order went through. so at that point i figured they must be limiting orders to a single stick for now. out of curiosity i went back to the product page after placing my order, and it was showing as "out of stock" again...i guess they found a single 4GB stick buried in inventory somewhere, and i was the lucky one who snagged it...

Check the page occasionally if you want some. I managed to purchase 2 a few days after they first went out of stock. Went right back to the store page seconds after purchase went through, out of stock again. I got the last 2.

Glad more folks can grab up more of this delicious ram.

If you have any need, folks, this is the stuff to get. You really can't beat that price.

Have you tried 1T? People are pretty reliably getting 1T with 4 sticks.

I know, it used to be unheard-of, but, from what I've been reading, it's definitely worth a try.

Should've gotten 3 more sticks when it was < $14.50/stick.

*update* - newegg is currently offering 10% all desktop memory for the next 48 hoursw/ the promo code EMCJJNH45...not that it saves you much more money, but every little bit helps, right? at current pricing, that makes the 4GB sticks only $15.29 shipped apiece, and the 8GB kits only $37.79 shipped.

Wow, this is just getting ridiculous! Fifteen bucks for a 4GB stick of memory. I remember when a 128MB stick of memory was $250. I ain't complaining, that's for sure!! I wish my NAS used DDR3. It's only got 4GB of DDR2 and Server 2012 really likes more RAM than that.

Thanks for posting this, Sunny129.

Wasn't it cheaper last week before they went out of stock?

well the 4GB sticks themselves were still $16.99 apiece, but there was a "15% off desktop memory" promo code floating around at the time, bringing the price down to $14.44 apiece. see post #33.
