rofl I came here just to post the code. I think I'll gram some of this ram for future builds, at $58 for 16GB it's too hard to resist.

EDIT, replies at 3am? Really? Do you guys ever sleep?

Remember, 3am is only 12 on the west coast.

As for my 4 am post, was up getting ready for work. Normally get up at 5 but went in early today.

Yep, I bought 2x4gb and 1x4gb kit a few months ago and they work great on x58/920 so you should be fine. I think the limiting factor for hitting higher memory speeds beyond 1600MHz is the 2xuncore frequency requirement on Bloomfield. I believe on SB/IVB the uncore is 1.5x and SB-E is maybe only 1.0x.
My i7 930's uncore is at 3740. :awe:

the 8GB (2 x 4GB kits) are now showing as out of stock as well. but while the 4GB single sticks are being shown as "sold out," the 8GB kits are being shown as "discontinued." i guess that's not really a big deal so long as the single 4GB sticks eventually get restocked.

Yeah it's been a while since I've touched my overclock, :/ I guess I can always do 1600Mhz with low latencies?

Yeah you should be able to run at least 8-8-8-24 1T at 1600MHz; that's what I was running on my 6x2GB Corsair kits. I tried running them at 1800-2000MHz but that threw a few BSODs so I stopped mucking around with it trying to get it stable. I came to the conclusion it was the Uncore because even after I changed the memory speeds down to 1600MHz, the Uncore clock didn't automatically revert from 3800+ and I kept getting BSODs until I changed it back to ~3200.

My main motivation on upgrading to these was to get to 3 DIMMs and lower voltage without sacrificing any performance or capacity and these have fit the bill. Once I upgrade my platform and CPU they'll be good stop-gaps until I grab 8GB DIMMs or whatever else is prevalent at that time.

Has Samsung published latency settings for 1300MHz? Or is SPD default already best?

Got around to swapping in my first set and now running at:
1866 9-9-9-24 1T @ 1.425v

Have been running Prime95 for the past couple hours without any issues at all. Can't wait for my other pair to show up.

Finally got a set today. These things are really tiny! I've been cranking Prime 95 at 2000, 9-9-9-28, 1T 1.5v for about an hour now. Hurricane Sandy's eye is passing near me so I may have to shut it down.

Finally got around to putting these in my main system (replacing a 4x4GB set of Patriot Sector 5 sticks). Running only at 1600 for now, but scored 7.9 on the user experience.

The only thing left for me to bump my composite score to 7.9 is to upgrade my video card, but 7.8 is fine for me.

well the 8GB kits are no longer being shown as "discontinued." instead there is an "auto-notify" button on the product page, which must mean that they're coming back in stock sooner or later...

btw, i just received and installed my memory today. i've got 8GB in a dual GTX 560 Ti machine crunching Einstein@Home BRP4 tasks 6 at a time, and another 8GB in a dual HD 6950 machine crunching Einstein@Home BRP4 tasks 8-10 at a time, depending on whether or not a Test4Theory@Home multithreaded task is running on the CPU. memory timings are 8-8-8-22-1T @ 1.4v in both machines, and although they've only been running for 90 minutes or so, i haven't had any hiccups yet.

Crank 'em up to 11! No actually to 1866, then 2133 then to 2400. They prefer to be pushed. Just keep 'em under 1.5v.

well actually i bought them primarily for reliability and power savings...i do a great deal of distributed computing. but thanks for the heads-up, now i know that the have a good deal of OCing headroom.

It said that these sticks support 1.5v right on the package. The only settings under 1.5v on my GA-X58A-UD3R mobo is 1.4v and 1.3v, and these just won't do 1870MHz 9-9-9-24 1T @1.4v on it, but they'll do it @1.5v just fine. My tWCL (tWL in my BIOS) is set to 7, where it should be.

Are these going to be OK @1.5v, or should I settle for 1496MHz (and tighter timings, maybe) @1.4v?

the product package says that they're good for either 1.35v or 1.5v, so you should be just fine where you are...

See, that's what I thought, too. They wouldn't have printed it on the package otherwise.

Good.

yeah, i don't think kleinkinstein meant stay away from 1.5v so much as he meant don't go above 1.5v. that said, i think my 8-8-8-20-1T @ 1.4v timings are pretty darn good even if i'm only @ 1600mhz, b/c the best timings i see on DDR3 1600 memory in this price range is 9-9-9-24-2T @ 1.5v.

*EDIT* - i take that back - there's a G. Skill Ares 8GB (2 x 4GB) kit w/ 8-8-8 @ 1.5v timings for only $36 on newegg, but i guess that's to be expected with the way memory prices have slowly been coming down. anyway i still appreciate that out Samsung sticks can run as low as 1.35v and won't get in the way of any CPU heatsink.

Right. The sweetspot is at or below 1.5v, especially for 1155 and 56 boards. You can push them to 1.65v and they will respond and stay solid. Apologies for the confusion. Luv these Sammy's, I was at 1866 for a good long time, but now I've cranked it up rock solid @ 2133, 10-11-10-28-1T, 1.42v on a Pro4-M. Yes, with only 1.42v! Just fiddle with them, they can take it.

I agree. This is excellent RAM. And it's so freaking short!

If it goes on sale again I might just have to buy 3 more sticks and find a RAMDisk program to mess around with.

I received my 4x4GB sticks yesterday; I've seen low-profile RAM before, but this is ridiculous! It barely sticks up above the white RAM-release levers on the socket! Anyway, I'm running it at the stock DDR3-1600. I have tried running it on AUTO and on fixed 1600. CPU-Z gives me the same readings. Is this normal? It really doesn't look right.

Could it have something to do with my weird motherboard (Asrock P67 Extreme 4 Rev B) not giving a true 100FSB? It reads like this with any RAM I've used in this board. I'm not overclocking anything. Everything is on AUTO.

why would anything on the "SPD" tab change? its just there to show you the JEDEC timing standards of the chips on your memory module at various standard clock speeds and voltages. the information on that tab stays the same regardless of how you have your memory set. go to the "memory" tab, and you'll see your memory's actual speed and timings. its the values on this "memory" tab that will change when switching between auto and manual settings in the BIOS.
